Brett Kissel’s Latest Single “Drink About Me” and Music Video

Brett Kissel is well-known for his fun, lighthearted country tracks that flood the Canadian airwaves. Once in a while, he slides in an emotional single that humbles us all. This time around, it’s Kissel’s latest release “Drink About Me“.

The lead single from Kissel’s upcoming album, Now or Never is a familiar sound we typically see from the Alberta-born and bred artist.

The relatable story in “Drink About Me” reflects on memories of a previous relationship and the feelings attached to familiar things that serve as a reminder. In this case, “Drink About Me” is a reference to places and memories, and the pain associated with the memory of relationships. A “margarita on the coast,” a “cold corona takes you down to Mexico”, and “a sip of some strong whiskey, does it put you in a dive bar,” are connotations for the remnants of a powerful relationship.

Brett Kissel has a way of connecting a listener with the story in a song and making them understand it, whether it’s lighthearted, emotional, or a party anthem.

The video stars Bachelor/Bachelorette alums Kaitlyn Bristowe and Jason Tartick, friends of Brett Kissel. The video mirrors the symbolism of seasons changing, relationships ending, and the impact on memories.

Drink About Me has been slowly making its way up the charts, currently sitting around song number six. I’m sure we will see this track hit the top in the coming weeks.

Brett Kissel will be releasing his album in early 2020, and we the Front Porch can’t wait to add that to our playlists!

Lyrics to “Drink About Me” by Brett Kissel

We were a million miles a minute
Like the world was only spinning around for us
Started a fire and we jumped in it
Hotter than the center of the sun

Slow kissing in a fast car
Jeans sliding off in the rain, yeah
Tonight, it’s got me smiling, buzzing
All my memories we made, here’s to those days

I hope a Margarita puts you on the coast with me
A cold Corona takes you down to Mexico
And baby, when you take a sip of some strong whiskey
Does it put you in that dive bar?

Stealing my heart in a corner booth
Way down in Baton Rouge, baby
‘Cause, baby
After all of this time
One little sip and I miss you like crazy
Tell me, baby, do you drink about me?

Do you ever look back and laugh
At that time I got so drunk at your apartment
Playing air guitar like we were Guns ‘N’ Roses
We were too damn good to forget about
So girl, I’m raising one up now
To the moments I’m still holding

I hope a Margarita puts you on the coast with me
A cold Corona takes you down to Mexico
And baby, when you take a sip of some strong whiskey
Does it put you in that dive bar?

Stealing my heart in a corner booth
Way down in Baton Rouge, baby
‘Cause, baby
After all of this time
One little sip and I miss you like crazy
Tell me, baby, do you drink about me?
The way I drink about you
If you drink about me (drink about me)
Baby, when you do

I hope a Margarita puts you on the coast with me
A cold Corona takes you down to Mexico
And baby, when you take a sip of some strong whiskey
Does it put you in that dive bar?

Stealing my heart in a corner booth
Way down in Baton Rouge, baby
‘Cause, baby
After all of this time
One little sip and I miss you like crazy
Tell me, baby, do you drink about me?
Do you drink about me?
(Drink about me)
