Chris Buck Band Shares Their “Holy Ground” in New Music Video

Canadian country group Chris Buck Band have released the music video for their very personal single “Holy Ground”. The single and music video takes place in Chris’ happy place in Northern Ontario.

“Holy Ground” showcases a more personal side to his songwriting. He says that this is the track most true to his story that he has ever written. He believes that everyone has that one place they can call their own ‘Holy Ground’. For Chris Buck, this is the property his aunt and uncle own in Northern Ontario.

This sugarbush provided the setting for this music video. Chris decided to shoot the new music video for this single on this property to bring fans closer to knowing more about the man behind the music.

Interview With Chris Buck

Front Porch: Congrats on your latest single “Holy Ground”, and the accompanying music video. It’s the leading single on your “All In” EP, and you’ve said that this is the song that is the truest to your life that you have ever written. This single is clearly really important to you. What was the inspiration behind this song, and why does it mean so much to you?

Chris Buck: First off thanks for noticing that. Yes, this song means a great amount to me! The last few songs I’ve written I wanted to write about my story and hopefully people can relate to that. I think everyone has a special place they go to relax or reflect and mine is at my family’s sugar bush.

FP: Tell us a bit about filming the music video. What that process is like, how it all came together – and we heard that the location it was filmed on has a special meaning to you.

Chris Buck: Yes that video was actually filmed on my family’s property in Lafonataine, Ont ( hour north of Barrie) I spent a lot of weekends here and still go there when on the road.

FP: The country music genre has really evolved in the past few years, and has become much more approachable to the average listener – blending the lines of pop and country, or country and rock. What do you think about that, and what do you say to the people who are critical about this trend?

Chris Buck: I think country is a lot like rock was in the 60s right now. Lots of different sounds emerging. I think a great song is a great song as long as there is a country element to it of course.

FP: Quickly, “Old Town Road” – dig it, or ditch it?

Chris Buck: I dig it for what it is. Do I think its country? No , but I feel it’s still sooooo catchy!!!

FP: So far, 2019 has been a big year, and a busy one! What’s next for you, what can we expect to see from you next?

Chris Buck: Really wanna focus on writing and learning to write better. Gonna be spending my time down south for a bit and really wanna keep bettering myself with not only the songs but also my live show. Album a year is the goal 🙂

FP: And finally, give us the top 5 songs that you are really into right now?

Chris Buck: That’s tough BUT heres my Top 5 artists I’ve been listening to this summer as my phone tells me

  • 5 –Hillsong
  • 4 -Luke Combs
  • 3- Katchafire
  • 2-Bob Seger
  • 1-Blue Rodeo

Thanks so much for joining us on the Front Porch Chris! We can’t wait to see what’s next for you as we head into 2020.
