“Don’t Mind if I Do” is the first release this year from Manitoba country artist David James. This song is playful, witty, and just what we need as the warm weather continues to tease us … which is just what we’re looking for!
“Don’t Mind If I Do” offers up the soundtrack of spring. With punchy vocals, a dose of traditional twang and feel good, tongue-in-cheek lyricism, it’s sure to shake off the last of the winter blues.
Written by Sarah Buxton, Corey Crowder, and Cale Dodds, “Don’t Mind if I Do” is packed with layers of acoustics and talented lyrics to create a light, traditionally-influenced track. James’ vocals pair perfectly with the song, highlighting his quirky personality and talent as a performer.
“Don’t Mind if I Do” is the perfect follow up to James’ 2020 EP, If I Were You, and the ree-release of The There’s You, as a duet with Genevieve Fisher. James has been able to balance pop-country and conventional, heartbreak and a good time, and thoughtful music with catchy lyrics. He’s really demonstrated that he has range, vocally, but also in terms of his sound. Each track released follows up well to the previous, and touches on new territory, keeping his music relatable and relevant.
If you’re looking for a playful Canadian track to add to your summer-ready playlist (what … I’ve already started mine), “Don’t Mind if I Do” will add just that layer of fun you’re looking for.
