Lennon Daniels Debut Single “Break Free”

Lennon Daniels releases his debut single "Break Free"

Lennon Daniels is one of the most promising newcomers to the Canadian country music scene. He has recently released his debut single “Break Free” to country radio.

Right from the get go “Break Free” has a vibe that is so reminiscent of rock from the late 80s and early 90s. With guitars that sound like a total homage to the days of hair bands, Lennon’s vocals having some tones similar to Tom Petty, all while miraculously keeping an unmistakably country vibe. Not an easy task but it was well executed by Lennon Daniels and his production team.

All the classic sounds in this single are what help make “Break Free” so familiar – it’s like listening to your favourite throwback songs, but completely reinvigorated. This familiarity makes for a perfect selection as a debut single.

Matched with the music and melody, the opening lyrics “8 o’clock on a Friday night, windows down radio up”, really set the tone of what to expect for the rest of the song. Within the first handful of seconds, you can tell it’s going to be one of those songs that will stick with you for the rest of the day.

“Break Free” was co-written by Nashville-based songwriter Brian Donkers, and recorded in one of Toronto’s premiere studios: Noble Street Studios. A lot of music royalty was involved in the creation of this single, so it’s no doubt this song will help secure Lennon’s spot as an emerging Canadian country artist.

We can’t wait to see what’s next for him! We’re going to look at getting Lennon Daniels up here to join us on the Front Porch to get to know him a bit, and get his opinion on that state of Canadian country music. Stay tuned for that!

Lennon Daniels “Break Free” Lyrics

8 o’clock on a Friday night
windows down radio up
you’re singing along to our favourite song
your pretty blue eyes shotgun side
it’s been a long week without you
never ending but you got me
forgetting that another Monday’s coming
suddenly

Hey Hey

You know I’m doing fine
girl I come alive
with every touch of your lips
and your fingertips
I don’t know how you do it to me.
Let’s dance the night away
until the moonlight fades
let’s live our lives the way their meant to be
and break free

Oooh

We can head downtown and find a bar
with a cover band playing 90s jams
or drive all night til we find a beach
to wake up on whatever you want
baby you choose it don’t matter
you know I’m good if I’m with you
girl there’s nothing better
baby you and me together
Is all I need

You know I’m doing fine
girl I come alive
with every touch of your lips
and your ginertips
I don’t know how you do it to me.
Let’s dance the night away
until the moonlight fades
let’s live our lives the way their meant to be
and break free

You know I’m doing fine
girl I come alive
with every touch of your lips
and your ginertips
I don’t know how you do it to me.
Let’s dance the night away
until the moonlight fades
let’s live our lives the way their meant to be
and break free

Break Free

Break Free

And Break free

break free

break free

In country music, the Front Porch has long been a place of reflection. A place where you can look at the life you have inside that front door. A place where time almost seems to stand still, where you can get away. It’s also a place where you can go to observe the world as it passes by you. To think about your place out there beyond the driveway.
