Emerging Ontario-based country artist Elyse Saunders has released her boldest single yet, “Neon Cowboy”. Showcasing fluidity in her songwriting and style, “Neon Cowboy” follows 2024 singles “Dirt” and the Canadian Top 30 and Australian Top 10 “Never Have I Ever”.
This year, Elyse scored a CMAOntario Award for Female Artist of the Year, along with radio success for “Never Have I Ever”, and a summer of shows at Festivals and events across Canada.

The song dives into the allure of the”Neon Cowboy”—a smooth-talking charmer who reels in hearts only to leave them broken. But also the power that comes with seeing right through the Neon Cowboy’s game.
Elyse says, “A ‘Neon Cowboy’ is a barstool-smooth talker that knows how to steal your heart but never sticks around. He’s all games and heartbreak and at the end of the day, a real cowboy will protect your heart, a neon cowboy won’t. So go for the real cowboy.”
Saunders’ powerful voice, paired with production from Dan Swinimer, and influences from artists like Morgan Wallen and Hardy, gives the song a fresh edge that resonates with today’s listeners.
Collaborating With The Right Team For “Neon Cowboy”
Written alongside Nashville talents David Madras and Kelly McKay, the song brings the mystique of a Wild West outlaw into the neon lights of today. Vivid lyrics like “blanco tequila feeds your silver tongue” and “riding on your high horse, throwing lassos, trying to catch your game” capture the cowboy’s smooth-talking nature and elusive charm.
The release marks a new chapter for Saunders, pushing her to explore different facets of her songwriting.
