The video features Justin and his childhood friend, Samantha Picco, putting an end to their long running on-screen romance. Samantha first appeared as Justin’s love interest in the video for “Think About You”, released in 2020. They continued their story in the videos for “Sure Beats A Good Time” and “Makes Me Wanna”.

“Samantha has been a huge part of making the songs come to life in each of the videos she has been in, and I hate to say this, but our on-screen romance has come to a definitive end,” says Justin. “That’s not to say she won’t be in any videos in the future, though. You never know where she might pop up.”

Samantha is best known for her appearance on season seven of Big Brother Canada.

“Beauty Queen” is an upbeat and uplifting take on the classic country breakup song. Justin says that bad breakup songs in country music are “cliché,” but he’s not afraid to face that fact head-on.

“I see this song as a positive spin on a lesson learned. It’s the kind of song I’m confident my fans will be singing along to, while also understanding and embracing the meaning behind it,” he says.

“I’ve been through it, and I freely admit that getting over someone you truly loved is one of the hardest things I’ve had to deal with in my life. But everything happens for a reason, so to anyone out there wondering if there are better days ahead … there are.”

A Stellar Year For Justin Fancy

“Beauty Queen” caps off a fantastic year for Justin Fancy. His previous single, “Make Me Wanna”, from his debut album Sure Beats A Good Time, peaked at number 41 on the Billboard Canadian Country Radio charts. It also took the number one spot on Sirius XM Canada’s CBC Country channel.

Justin also hit 500,000 streams on Spotify this year.

He was also recently invited by The Recording Academy to be the first Canadian Country artist to perform in their Press Play At Home series on grammy.com.

Justin is wrapping up 2021 with three Music NL Award nominations: Album of the Year, Solo Artist of the Year, and Fan’s Choice Entertainer of the Year. The nominations follow Justin historically taking home both Country Artist of the Year and Rising Star of the Year. He’s the only artist to ever take home both awards in the same year.

Justin’s as-of-yet unnamed sophomore album is set to release in the spring.
