Lori Lynne Johnson Releases Heartfelt Anthemic Single “Courage”

"Courage" by Lori Lynne Johnson

Front Porch Sponsored PostCanadian country-pop artitst Lori Lynne Johnson has released a wonderfully heartfelt single called “Courage” from her debut album Heartache & Healing. “Courage” is an anthemic song that makes you want to cry, but also stand strong and fight at the same time.

October marks the National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in Canada. The inspiration behind “Courage” comes from her close friends’ battle with cancer, so the release of this song in October is really quite fitting. Cancer has affected so many people that the lyrics in this song are really relatable. The lyrics in the first verse say it all: “Life is good – until one day it’s not. Life is fair – until one day it’s not. Feeling safe within your world. Until someone utters one small word”.

About Lory Lynne Johnson

Lori Lynne Johnson is a really interesting artist, with a very compelling story. She truly understand the healing power of music, and how a song can affect someone and lift their spirits. As a former critical-care nurse and longtime health-care professional, Lori often thought of music as a side project – creating music for friends and family as gifts. It wasn’t until she realized that her friends and family weren’t just listening to the songs she created for them, but they were really connecting to the songs that a switch flipped in her mind.

“That changed everything,” she says. “Absolutely. When I realized there was something in the songs that made people feel something, it changed the whole idea of why I was doing this. Up until then, I had it in the back of my head that I would do this and have it and be proud of it, but probably go back to medicine, go back to helping people.

“But then I realized that the music is just a new way of doing what I’ve always been doing — a new way of helping people,” she continues, “and that’s so exciting. I realized that I was not leaving behind my old life. I was just changing the methods I use. Now I still get to accomplish what I’ve always wanted, but in a way that allows me to use the passion that has been in the background of my life all this time.”

Lyrics to “Courage”

Life is good – until one day it’s not
Life is fair – until one day it’s not
Feeling safe within your world
Until someone utters one small word

Pre Chorus

And it’s all been changed
And now chaos reigns
It’ll never be the same
But there’s a strength inside you cannot name

Chorus

Courage to fight
Courage to fall
Courage to get up when you hit the wall
Courage to fear
Courage to feel
Courage to cry and courage to heal

Still a mother, still a loving wife
Even when fighting for your life
Up each day – feet on the floor
And you reach inside for just a bit more

Pre Chorus

And it’s all been changed
And now chaos reigns
It’ll never be the same
But there’s a strength inside you cannot name

Chorus

Courage to fight
Courage to fall
Courage to get up when you hit the wall
Courage to fear
Courage to feel
Courage to cry and courage to kneel

Chorus

Courage to fight
Courage to fall
Courage to get up when you hit that wall
Courage to fear
Courage to feel
Courage to cry and courage to heal

Chorus

Courage to fight
Courage to fall
Courage to get up when you hit the wall
Courage to move
Courage to climb
Courage to stand strong when you need to try

Life is good until one day it’s not

In country music, the Front Porch has long been a place of reflection. A place where you can look at the life you have inside that front door. A place where time almost seems to stand still, where you can get away. It’s also a place where you can go to observe the world as it passes by you. To think about your place out there beyond the driveway.
