Renegade Station and their Debut “Along for the Ride”

Canadian country band Renegade Station from Alberta

There’s a rich, soulful country sound that comes out of Alberta. Take for instance Paul Brandt, Emerson Drive, and Carolyn Dawn Johnson. They’ve been around for years- but have you heard of Renegade Station? I was recently introduced to their work, specifically, their first single  and title track off their 2018 release,Along for the Ride, with the music video out now.

The music video for “Along for the Ride” is a playful compliment to the song. It takes place mostly in the trailer of an 18-wheeler truck where Renegade Station is performing for a group of fans – talk about an intimate (and bumpy) performance! Check out the music video for this single:

Along for the Ride is led by a heavy acoustic and traditional country beat. The powerful harmony of the quartet draws the listener’s ears to the chorus and keeps you hooked. Renegade Station blends their traditional Alberta roots and influences with a contemporary sound to create a powerful track that’s sure to make its way to our summer playlists.

Along for the Ride leads the album as far as breakthrough tracks as it distinguishes the band’s sound and direction in country music.

Renegade Station’s Luanne Carl says, “The song truly is a dedication to our fans for being Along for the Ride with us from the very beginning! The video is a reflection of the lighter side of RS and the fun that we love to have! We hope our fans love it as much as we do!”

However, “Who’s Gonna Love Me Tonight, the album’s lead track is an interesting song to note as well. Not only did it earn Renegade Station some hardware at the Alberta Country Music Awards, but it stood out to me as I listened to the album. It pokes at that common theme artists write about; lonely hearts and filling the void. Something listeners can all relate to in some regard, I think this song is what builds the relationship between artist and listener.

Something that we see from artists across the country is genuine appreciation and dedication to those who listen to and support their music. Renegade Station is no exception.

2019 is looking good for Renegade Station. We can’t wait to see what big moves they make this year.

In country music, the Front Porch has long been a place of reflection. A place where you can look at the life you have inside that front door. A place where time almost seems to stand still, where you can get away. It’s also a place where you can go to observe the world as it passes by you. To think about your place out there beyond the driveway.
