Emerging Canadian country artist Dylan Burk is releasing his latest single “Longer”, and we are so pumped to be able to premiere this great new single right here on the Front Porch.
Dylan Burk has had a very busy year: releasing new music, headlining a show at a BrewFest in Kapuskasing, ON, and competing in the 2019 Boots & Hearts Emerging Artist Showcase presented by #ChevyMusic. This is where we had the chance to see Dylan perform and meet with him to talk about the experience. He may not have been the winner of the showcase, but he certainly left a lasting impression.
Since his performance at the festival, fans (which includes us on the Front Porch) have been anxiously waiting for him to release new music. After weeks of teasing us with this release on social media, we finally have the single available! We had the chance to quickly connect with him to chat about this new release. Dylan Burk Talks About New Single “Longer” and Music
Front Porch: Dylan, congrats on the release of this great new single “Longer”! It’s been a long time coming, and we’re so happy it’s here. tell us all about the single; the inspiration, the story behind the song, etc.
Dylan Burk: Longer was pitched to me and at first it wasn’t on the list of songs I was going to do. But after really thinking about it I thought it would be a great song to show a different side to me.
FP: What was the recording process like for you, do you enjoy getting in the studio, or would you rather be performing on a stage feeding off the audience?
DB: I love both but there’s something about being on stage interacting with the audience and getting to see the looks on their faces!
FP: We had the chance to catch up with you over the Summer at Boots & Hearts Music Festival. When we talked, you had said that the whole experience put a huge smile on your face. What are your memories from that day – are you still smiling?
DB: I owe a lot to Boots and Hearts . It’s really helped to get my name out there. It’s helped to get me a lot of show opportunities. The smile isn’t going away anytime soon
FP: With social media, artists are really finding success and a niche of fans through platforms like Instagram, Twitter, Tik Tok, etc. Artists are no longer relying on being “discovered” by a record label. You do a fantastic job connecting with your audience on social media. How conscious of your social media presence are you? Is this something you think that has benefited the music industry?
DB: Thank You! I really do try my best to put the effort out in social media, especially my Instagram. It’s a great way to connect with fans . It’s a great way to find out out what people think of my music.
FP: The country music genre has really evolved in the past few years, and has become much more approachable to the average listener – blending the lines of pop and country, or country and rock. What do you think about that, and what do you say to the people who are critical about this trend?
DB: I personally think it’s a great to have variety out there in country music. It gives country a wider audience.
FP: What’s next for you – A tour, new music?
DB: I have another single coming out in February. Along with a lot of good shows for 2020
