An Unflinching Look at Heartbreak

At the core of ONE HOUSE DOWN (from the girl next door), Madeline reveals her personal struggles and the emotional toll of ending a significant relationship. The album captures everything from the raw sadness of adjusting to a new reality, to the moments of resilience that come with moving forward.

“These songs are very close to me,” Madeline says. “I hope listeners can relate to them and feel encouraged as they find their way through similar experiences.”

Produced by Zach Crowell, the album mixes Merlo’s country roots with modern, introspective songwriting. Each track pulls listeners into familiar emotional territory, but with a refreshing authenticity.

Key Tracks From The EP

Broken Heart Thing (feat. Dustin Lynch)

A standout on the album, “Broken Heart Thing” tackles the aftermath of a breakup from both sides. Madeline’s soaring vocals pair seamlessly with Dustin’s, painting a relatable picture of loss and heartbreak. The track has already had a lot of love from major streaming platforms and listeners, even being added to Spotify’s coveted Hot Country playlist.

Good Grief

One of the more hopeful tracks on the album, “Good Grief” encourages looking ahead rather than staying stuck in the past. It’s one of resilience and serves as a counterbalance to the more somber moments on the record.

Middle of the Bed

This track captures the lonely, quiet moments that come after a breakup. In “Middle of the Bed,” Merlo reflects on the habit of reaching out for someone who’s no longer there, evoking a haunting sense of loss and the feelings you can’t avoid as you start to try and move on.

An Album Rooted in Authenticity

What sets ONE HOUSE DOWN (from the girl next door) apart is the honesty that runs through each song. Merlo co-wrote all six tracks, drawing from her own experiences to create a project that feels grounded and genuine.

It’s clear that this album was meant to resonate on a personal level, offering listeners a reflection of their own experiences with heartbreak and recovery – but also for Madeline, who’s overcome heartbreak, found the love of her life, and found happiness.
