Canadian country artist Julia Vos is bringing her love of honky-tonk life and cowboy charm to the screen with the release of her very first music video, “I Only Kiss Cowboys.”
The video premiered September 9th, 2025, and is now available to watch on YouTube.
A Cowboy Anthem Comes to Life
Written by Julia Vos alongside Troy Kemp and produced by JUNO Award winner Bart McKay, “I Only Kiss Cowboys” is a high-energy, boot-stompin’ anthem. With playful storytelling and a honky-tonk groove, the track has already become a fan favourite.
The new music video, directed by Chris Doi, leans into that same charm. It features Julia two-stepping and line-dancing her way through a cheeky transformation story where a “suit man” trades in his city style for boots, denim, and cowboy swagger … just the kind of partner Julia has been singing about.
“This song is a cowboy anthem for the girls that came from singing at rodeos across Alberta growing up,” Julia shares. “For the video, Chris and I expanded on that idea to celebrate honky-tonk life and Western charm with some cheeky storytelling moments. The shoot went off without a hitch—we’ve never had more laughs (or beers) in one evening!”
Big Reception and Career Highlights
“I Only Kiss Cowboys” has already struck a chord with listeners. The track earned placements on Spotify’s “All New Country” and “Fresh Finds Canada” playlists, plus spins on SiriusXM Top of the Country Radio. Julia’s playful social series “Reasons I Love Cowboys” also went viral this summer, earning more than 2 million views on Instagram in just two months.
While this marks Julia’s first official music video, her career already boasts major milestones. She’s released six singles, earned four Country Music Alberta nominations, and won the “Nashville North Star” competition at the Calgary Stampede in 2016. She’s also shared festival stages with country’s best at Big Valley Jamboree, Boots and Hearts, and Country Thunder.
What’s Next for Julia Vos
“I Only Kiss Cowboys” shows off Julia’s fun-loving side, marking a shift from more contemplative past releases like “Somebody” and “Jude.” But at the heart of it, her genuine storytelling remains front and centre.
Fans can catch Julia performing live at the CCMA Country Crawl on September 12th during Country Music Week in Kelowna, BC. After that, she’s heading back to the studio to work on a slate of new music set for release in 2026.
The official music video for “I Only Kiss Cowboys” is available now on YouTube.
In country music, the Front Porch has long been a place of reflection. A place where you can look at the life you have inside that front door. A place where time almost seems to stand still, where you can get away. It’s also a place where you can go to observe the world as it passes by you. To think about your place out there beyond the driveway.
