Parker Graye is back and released a country version of the iconic song “Complicated” by Avril Lavigne. As with any good cover though, she puts her own spin on it and makes it hers.
Avril Lavigne blew up on the music scene 20 years ago with her debut single “Complicated”. Fellow Canadian Parker Graye is helping celebrate by releasing her own version of the song.
Parker’s Sad Girl Country Version was produced by Canadian-based The Renaissance (Dan Botch and Garrett Ward) and brings a blend of nostalgic guitars with traditional steel, giving listeners new meaning to her slogan “Saddies for the Baddies”.

“Complicated (Sad Girl Country Version)” takes the original song and elevates it to match the style that fans have come to love and expect from Parker Graye.
The song fits into the country genre so flawlessly, that it’s almost hard to remember what the original sounds like when you’re listening to this one. Parker’s soft vocals command the attention of the listener and takes them on a journey through the story of the song.
Be sure to give it a listen and share it on social media. Tag Avril Lavigne in the song too so she can hear it!

“I didn’t grow up in a musical household but I was obsessed with music. I’d spend hours listening to my tapes and CD’s until the internet opened up a whole new world to discovering new music and artists.”
Graye always wanted to write music and perform, she just didn’t know how to get there. After taking a red eye bus from Banff to Alberta, she attended an industry night in Vancouver and started to find her footing. She didn’t land in the country genre immediately. Graye spent time in the world of pop music, before leveraging her gift as an emotional songwriter, to bring her stories to the Canadian country music scene.
