Dallas Smith’s March release, The Fall has been on our playlists all summer. We’ve been jamming to “Friends Don’t Let Friends Drink Alone“, which features a few fellow Canadian favourites.
“Friends Don’t Let Friends Drink Alone” is a light, fun summer track with a good message ….good friends sure wouldn’t let you drink alone! The song also highlights something important; not every person who wants to have a drink with you is looking to be more than friends! “I ain’t coming over to steal no bases, I’m just coming over to do my part,” and that part is being a good friend and not letting one drink alone.
A song about friendship isn’t something we hear too often- if we’re talking stereotypes, country songs are about relationships, summer flings, and trucks. “Friends Don’t Let Friends Drink Alone” is a breath of fresh air.
“Friends Don’t Let Friends Drink Alone” is track number five on Dallas Smith’s 6-track EP, The Fall. The Fall is features song with that familiar Dallas Smith sound, and a mix of fun and emotional. We can’t wait to see what a potential full album will sound like.
While we haven’t seen a teaser or preview for a “Friends Don’t Let Friends Drink Alone” video, we can only imagine the fun that would be had putting it together!
If the lyrics don’t deliver the message, how about sharing the track with Dean Brody and Mackenzie Porter- and the stage! The Friends Don’t Let Friends Tour Alone tour kicks off in September, where Smith, Brody, Porter, and former tour-mate Chad Brownlee will hit the road together for some fun.

Lyrics to “Friends Don’t Let Friends Drink Alone” by Dallas Smith
Hey
Whoa whoa
Hey
If you already got plans then disregard ’em
I ain’t coming over to steal no bases
I’m just coming over to do my part
Stuck in a talespin south
Little bit jaded, little bit blue
I’m just doing what I’m supposed to do
If I could pour one through the phone
I would, but I can’t, no
So girl if you’re looking for a partner in crime
I volunteer to do the time
I can mix your drink up fast
You’ll never see the bottom of the glass
We’ll wash the world right off your shoulders
Yeah
‘Cause friends don’t let friends drink alone
So I’m comin’ over
Whoa whoa
I’d want you to do the same for me
So girl tonight if you gotta go through it
Let me do you this common courtesy
If I could pour one through the phone
I would, but I can’t, no
So girl if you’re looking for a partner in crime
I volunteer to do the time
I can mix your drink up fast
You’ll never see the bottom of the glass
We’ll wash the world right off your shoulders
Yeah
‘Cause friends don’t let friends drink alone
So I’m comin’ over
Whoa whoa
Yeah come over
Whoa whoa
We can move this party out back
Put around a fire, burn away the blues
That’s just doing what we’re supposed to do
If I could pour one through the phone
I would, but I can’t, no
So girl if you’re looking for a partner in crime
I volunteer to do the time
I can mix your drink up fast
You’ll never see the bottom of the glass
We’ll wash the world right off our shoulders
Yeah
‘Cause friends don’t let friends drink alone
Yeah, friends don’t let friends drink alone
So I’m comin’ over
Whoa whoa
So don’t drink alone
Whoa whoa
Don’t drink alone
I’m comin’ over
Whoa whoa
In country music, the Front Porch has long been a place of reflection. A place where you can look at the life you have inside that front door. A place where time almost seems to stand still, where you can get away. It’s also a place where you can go to observe the world as it passes by you. To think about your place out there beyond the driveway.
