Shortly after moving to Vancouver in 2010 Matt hooked up with his good friend Tommy Mac from Hedley at The Beat Lab studios, where he recorded and produced Matt’s single called “I Need You”.

Since then, Matt has spent the last year recording new music and moving towards the country genre. He wrote “Skip The Small Talk” with Jimmy Thow from Sons Of Daughters. These two have created a great song together!

“Skip The Small Talk” is a catchy and memorable debut country single. You can still hear the rock roots in his voice. The Canadian country industry is lacks in good rock-inspired country music. There’s only a handful of artists who successfully blend the two. So it’s refreshing to hear Matt on this song.

The production quality of the song is fantastic, and really showcases Matt’s guitar, vocal, and lyrical talent. If this is any indication of future music he’s planning to release … we’re excited!

He also released a music video for the song, and it’s a fun companion for “Skip The Small Talk“! Be sure to watch the music video below and stream the song on Apple Music and Spotify.

In country music, the Front Porch has long been a place of reflection. A place where you can look at the life you have inside that front door. A place where time almost seems to stand still, where you can get away. It’s also a place where you can go to observe the world as it passes by you. To think about your place out there beyond the driveway.
