New Album “Evolution” from Don Amero

Canadian Country Artist Don Amero walking down the road

On August 24th, 2018, JUNO Award nominee, Don Amero released his latest album called “Evolution”. His previous albums all had singles that tiptoed along the country music genre, but this album is a full country music experience.

Evolution is a great album! It’s an album about finding your place in the world and speaks to the daily struggles and triumphs that anyone can relate to. The album starts off strongly with “Live While I’m Alive”. This song is anthemic in every way. It’s an uplifting song full of hope, love, and dreams. Don’s vocals come in and they’re so incredibly smooth that they add a bit of whimsy to the anthem and strong message of the song. Definitely a great song to start the album off.

The opening track really sets the tone for the rest of the album. Every track fits perfectly together and helps tell the story of “Evolution”. While each track together makes a beautiful piece of art, they also all have legs to stand well alone as singles to perform well at country radio.

The third track “Addicted” is definitely one of the standout singles from this album. It’s a haunting bluesy song that accentuates his smooth voice. If you close your eyes, you can just imagine sitting in a smoky bar watching him play this song on a barstool under a single spotlight. It starts with beautiful a cappella harmonies and then heads right into a bluesy, soulful delight. It’s a great song that we highly recommend adding to your Spotify playlist.

Some of the other highlights on this album are “Church”, “Head Over Heals” a song he wrote for his daughter, and a cover of the iconic song from Blue Rodeo “Try”.

Listening to this album, it’s clear that Don Amero has a knack for connecting with his audience in a candid, natural, and emotional way. We highly recommend getting your copy of “Evolution” wherever it is you get your music.

In country music, the Front Porch has long been a place of reflection. A place where you can look at the life you have inside that front door. A place where time almost seems to stand still, where you can get away. It’s also a place where you can go to observe the world as it passes by you. To think about your place out there beyond the driveway.
