Keith Urban Brought his Graffiti U Tour to Edmonton

Keith Urban performing in Edmonton

Keith Urban has a reputation for being a dynamic performer, and his concert at Rogers Place in Edmonton on September 22 didn’t disappoint! This was Urban’s second concert at Rogers Place – the first being in 2016 when he christened the then-new arena by playing the first concert at the venue.

Alberta native Lindsay Ell opened the show, getting the crowd hyped for Keith Urban with powerful vocals and fantastic guitar solos.

Urban began his performance with “Never Comin’ Down” from his latest album, Graffiti U, getting the crowd revved up and singing along.

The concert was a good mix of new songs from Graffiti U and the Keith Urban classics that make the crowd sing out at the top of their lungs. In true Keith Urban fashion, the concert was full of energy, incredible vocals, guitar solos, and excited fans.

A few songs in, Urban took some time to read the signs his fans had made. During each concert, he makes a habit of choosing one sign and pulling that person on stage. As Urban read off some of the signs on the floor and the lower level seats, he decided to mix it up a little and pulled out a spotlight to read some of the signs in the nosebleed section. He ended up finding a young lady who was at the concert to celebrate her mother’s 30th birthday. Inviting this young lady and her mother down from the 300 section was a first for Urban, so while he waited for them to make their way down he jammed a little.

When the ladies made it to the stage, he chatted with them, took some photos, and sent them on their way with a memory they won’t soon forget!

Urban has another tradition of playing some songs on a second stage at the back of the floor section. After making his way through the crowd to the U-shaped stage, he kicked off the mini-set with “Kiss a Girl”, showing off his guitar skills and engaging the crowd by shaking hands and giving high fives. He performed three songs on Stage B – “Kiss a Girl”, “Who Wouldn’t Wanna Be Me”, and “You Look Good in My Shirt” – with the crowd belting them out alongside him. Before heading back to the main stage, he signed his guitar, chose one lucky fan from the audience, pulled her up on stage, and presented her with the signed guitar.

He made his way back to the main stage to perform three more songs before heading off. There was so much energy from the crowd that it didn’t take long for Urban to return for his encore in an Edmonton Oilers jersey, starting with “But for the Grace of God”. He wrapped up the encore by singing “Horses” with Lindsey Ell (who was also wearing an Oilers jersey). Both performers displayed their incredible guitar skills with a guitar duel when the song finished, wrapping up an incredible concert.

If you ever get the chance to see Keith Urban, you should definitely take it – you won’t be disappointed.

In country music, the Front Porch has long been a place of reflection. A place where you can look at the life you have inside that front door. A place where time almost seems to stand still, where you can get away. It’s also a place where you can go to observe the world as it passes by you. To think about your place out there beyond the driveway.
