Steve DeBlasio Marks Debut Single with Outlaw Love Story “Bobby and Jolene”

BC Country artist Steve DeBlasio

Port Moody singer-songwriter Steve DeBlasio has released his debut single, “Bobby and Jolene”.

It’s the first release from an artist who has spent years performing live and quietly filling notebooks with original songs. After years of playing bars and restaurants across B.C., Steve is finally putting his own songs out into the world.

And for a debut, DeBlasio has picked a pretty good story to start with.

Meet “Bobby and Jolene”

“Bobby and Jolene” follows two outlaw lovers who have been running from town to town for years, always keeping their distance from the people and places around them.

They dream of eventually escaping the chase and finding some peace, but deep down, they know that probably isn’t in the cards.

The idea of outlaw lovers has always intrigued DeBlasio, who points to the classic Bonnie and Clyde dynamic as inspiration.

“I’ve always been intrigued by the ‘outlaw lovers on the run’ idea, Bonnie and Clyde kind of thing,” he says.

The song actually started with a single line that sat with him for months. Once he decided Bobby and Jolene were outlaws, the rest of their story came together quickly.

“If We Go Down, We’re Going Down Together”

At the centre of the song is one line that captures everything about Bobby and Jolene’s relationship: “If we go down, we’re going down together.”

For DeBlasio, it represents their unwavering commitment to each other, no matter how messy things get.

That’s what gives the song more than just an outlaw storyline.

Beneath the running, the uncertainty, and the trouble waiting around every corner is a love story about two people who know the odds are against them and choose each other anyway.

From Live Shows to Original Music

DeBlasio has spent years building his musical career through live performances across British Columbia.

His sets blend country, folk, and rock, moving between classics and more modern country favourites. But while he’s been performing other artists’ songs, he’s also been writing his own.

Now, he’s ready to share them.

“Bobby and Jolene” marks the beginning of a new chapter for DeBlasio as he moves from performing songs he loves to putting his own stories in front of an audience.

And with plenty more songs waiting to be recorded, this debut is only the beginning.

For Steve DeBlasio, the chase starts here.
