This past September, The Cadillac Three wrapped up their Canadian Vacation Tour with a final show at the Algonquin Commons Theatre in Ottawa, and while it may have been their last stop, Ottawa country fans made sure they went out with a bang!
There’s a fine line between country and rock, and both Black Mountain Whiskey Rebellion and The Cadillac Three spent the night dancing around that line. Before the party even started rocking, there was a sea of plaid wandering around the Algonquin Campus, and it wasn’t long after Black Mountain Whiskey Rebellion took the stage that the sea of plaid took to their feet and started rocking.
The guys from Black Mountain Whiskey Rebellion obviously were having a good time while they were playing, and the energy they were giving off spread through the room to each person getting them up, out of their seats and ready to rock! They started at an 11 and just kept building from there! They played some favourites, teased some new music that should be dropping soon and finished out their set with “Willie Nelson T-Shirt” which got the crowd chanting and singing along just in time for the epic entrance of The Cadillac Three.
As the stage lights went down, you could feel the bass through your entire body, and as the lights started coming up, The TC3 banner was raised to an epic finish as the band came out on stage to the roar of the crowd. From the long hair, to the band tees to the cowboy boots and aviators, it was clear the crowd was in for a rockin-good time.
They kicked it off with “Party Like You” which was met with raucous applause, and transitioned right into the rest of the set. Taking moments in the middle of songs for wicked guitar solos where the hats came off – which means it’s serious – insane drum solos that ended in drumsticks in the audience (much to the enjoyment of some eager fans), to audience fists pumping in the air as they sang along to “Long Hair Don’t Care”.
Jaren, Neil and Kelby paused and took a moment to remember their first show in Canada, in Toronto, when the band decided to adopt Canada as their second home, and the crowd was more than happy to show their support for that decision.
Through the loud, pounding country-rock, to the rock-ballads like “Take Me To the Bottom”, to the amazing lap guitar solo after “Whiskey Soaked Redemption” the party raged on through the night. When they got to their second last song, “White Lightning” the crowd went crazy, a roaring cheer and an epic sing along and it was as if every person could see it as they belted out the lyrics ‘Oooh, I saw white lightning’.
The Cadillac Three shut ‘er down with a rousing version of “The South” that reminded every single person in that room just how much they love country and reinforced in all our minds that we are all truly from the south!

In country music, the Front Porch has long been a place of reflection. A place where you can look at the life you have inside that front door. A place where time almost seems to stand still, where you can get away. It’s also a place where you can go to observe the world as it passes by you. To think about your place out there beyond the driveway.
