Following the release of his Canadian tour, entitled the Going Somewhere tour, Tim Hicks releases his spin on an inspirational country tune released back in 2018.
“I Won’t Be Sorry”, originally written and released by David Lee Murphy, brings an inspiration that only few can capture. The song contains a variety of lyrics that share how important it is to live life to the fullest, and not wanting to feel regret knowing there is only so much time to leave a mark in this lifetime.
A New Spin on a Classic Vibe
Tim Hicks is known for bringing the country party to life with his music, and this song encapsulates this vibe perfectly. Though he is known to show how fun it can be to rock out country-style, such as “Loud” and “Stompin’ Ground”, this song shows how important it is to take these fun opportunities and make the most of them.
Living life to the fullest and looking back to find no regrets is the message the song puts across, and Hicks’ loud and compelling voice is a perfect combination to make someone want to take that leap of faith into anything that crosses their mind. Being able to revamp this song using what was already released to its fullest shows Tim Hicks’ ability to create banger after banger.
Writing the Story While Telling the Story
To bring the tune to another level, rather than making the feeling of trying to make the most of life scary, Tim Hicks is able to show how simple it can be to make the most of what there is, with his usual energy and spirit found in his other hit pieces.
I wanna be holdin’ that candle
With both ends burnin’ when the flame burns out
And i wanna be slingin’ that gravel
Runnin’ on empty with the pedal down
And i wanna be livin’ it up
Still pushin’ my luck with no regrets
Being able to use these lyrics in such an uplifting way shows what the song holds, but being able to portray it using his voice shows what talent Tim Hicks holds, and what he continues to build on. It creates joy, hope and power, and makes you want to listen to it on repeat to continue to feel these feelings.
Timing is Everything, Why Wait?
Though touring and performing is nothing new for Hicks, he explained in the announcement of this single “One day I’ll look back on this whole ride, and I’ll be damned if I leave any cards on the table.” Knowing that Hicks has spent years in this game, the importance behind being grateful for every opportunity is powerfully portrayed in this song. Which is why it’s the perfect follow up to his tour announcement.

Left Feeling Motivated and Waiting for Something More
After listening to “I Won’t Be Sorry” it’s expected to feel like running a marathon or telling someone you love them. It leaves a feeling of wanting more and not settling.
There is certainly more to come from Tim Hicks as he gears up for his upcoming tour, but in the meantime, you can find his socials here to keep up to date: Instagram, Tik Tok, and X.

As a lifetime concertgoer, I found my love for country music pretty early, and it’s been a journey ever since. Aside from attending any live show I can get to, I love live sports, specifically volleyball, crocheting, anything pop culture, and sharing my love of live music with everyone around.
