Canadian country artists Twin Kennedy have teamed up with fellow Canadian Mallory Johnson to release a powerful ballad called “Wise Woman”. It’s a great song that showcases the talent from these three voices.
The inception of “Wise Woman” came from a very personal and, unfortunately, familiar place. The three friends were sitting around chatting and drinking wine … as you do. But they were chatting about the experience of being a woman in the country music industry.
“We’ve always found that our most personal songs are written with close friends who are also our co-writers,” says Twin Kennedy. “Mallory came over to our house one night, we opened a bottle of wine and sat on the patio with our guitars. Inspired by our shared struggles as women in a male-dominated industry, ‘Wise Woman’ was born! Maybe it was the patio lights or maybe it was the merlot – it was one of those songwriting sessions where the music just flowed out of us.”
You can feel the experience these women are singing about when you listen to the song. When you stop and really listen to the lyrics, the song hits you. It’s a beautiful, but it also has moments of tragedy weaved into it.
Twin Kennedy have vocals that always blend perfectly. But with the addition of Mallory Johnson’s voice, there’s an added element of depth to the vocals. These three sounds perfect together.
The music video for this single is also really touching. It’s a video montage of all kinds of women. Women who have blazed a trail, and women who continue to blaze trails. When I was watching the video, seeing all these strong people gave me goosebumps on multiple occasions.
Be sure to give the music video a watch, and stream “Wise Woman” on Apple Music and Spotify.
