“Can’t Not” By Country Artist Steven Lee Olsen

Canadian country artist Steven Lee Olsen

Steven Lee Olsen has been hard at work in his home-studio in Nashville these days. He released four brand new tracks in March of this year, including  “Can’t Not”, and we can’t not add this one to our summer playlist!

Can’t Not is the perfect tune for driving with the windows down on a summer day. It’s got a beat and a powerful hook, and it’s catchy. Once you’ve heard it, you’re not getting it out of your head.

We had a chance to chat with Steven Lee Olsen about the song and how it came to be.

So how did “Can’t Not” come to be? Olsen and his co-writer on the song were supposed to meet with a “pretty big artist,” and were cancelled on, on pretty short notice. They decided since they were both in the studio, they may as well write. “Can’t Notstarted with a drum beat, and built from there. The song was together in a matter of days.

The lyrics and instrumentals were done quickly, with Olsen playing most of the instruments for the song. Given the team available and the natural building of the song, it was imperative for Olsen to participate as a multi-instrumentalist.

Can’t Notis the follow up to Olsen’s 2019 single, Hello Country. 2020 has been a big year for the Canadian singer-songwriter, with additional big releases with his name on them, including Billy Currington’s latest release, “Seaside.”

We love when longtime songwriters put out their own tracks. They have a different form of art behind them that really shows their raw talent.

Make sure to check out “Can’t Not“, along with If You’re With Me, Unhappy Hour, and Talkin’ About Last Night.

In country music, the Front Porch has long been a place of reflection. A place where you can look at the life you have inside that front door. A place where time almost seems to stand still, where you can get away. It’s also a place where you can go to observe the world as it passes by you. To think about your place out there beyond the driveway.
