Canadian country artist Annika Catharina is back with her latest single, “Dishonest”.
The track marks another pivotal moment in Annika’s rising career, tackling the emotional toll that deceit and dishonesty in relationships can take on an individual.

Written by Annika Catharina, fellow artist Zach McPhee, and the talented production duo The Renaissance (Dan Botch and Garrett Ward), “Dishonest” is an emotionally charged anthem that uses a rich, country-leaning sound to bring its heartache to life.
The song explores the painful aftermath of discovering a partner’s lies and the subsequent spiral of self-doubt and blame that follows.
Annika shared her thoughts on the inspiration behind the song: “This song is about the hurt that comes from loving someone who lets you down through their own dishonesty. When this happens, it’s very easy to question yourself and damage your own self-worth. Those feelings can linger, long after things have ended.”
She went on to reflect on the songwriting process, “In writing ‘Dishonest’ with Zach, Dan, and Garrett, I decided to look back on a past relationship to study the impact that the dishonesty of another had on me and why I was so hard on myself.”

A Look Back At 2024 For Annika
The release of “Dishonest” comes on the heels of an incredibly successful 2024 for the Abbotsford, BC-based artist. Last year, Annika hit a string of impressive milestones, including back-to-back #1 singles on SiriusXM’s Top of the Country Radio in Canada, as well as securing key editorial placements on major streaming platforms.
Her first single of 2024, “What If I”, reached #2 on SiriusXM Top of the Country, and made it to the finals of the Unsigned Only Music Competition. The single also earned Annika recognition as a Spotify RADAR Canada and EQUAL Canada artist.
Her follow-up release, “Bandit”, saw even greater success, claiming the #1 spot twice on SiriusXM’s Top of the Country and surpassing 100K Spotify streams. CMT Australia also added the official music video into rotation, further solidifying Annika’s growing presence in the country music scene.
Annika’s closing 2024 single, “Love and Hate”, continued the trend of success, reaching #1 on SiriusXM, accumulating 200K Spotify streams, and receiving multiple editorial playlist placements on platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music. She even graced the cover of Apple Music’s “Canada’s Country” playlist and appeared on the “Poppin’ Country” editorial playlist on Amazon Music.
