The Montreal-based country artist spent a decade touring in hard rock and metal before making the move to country, and that background never really goes away. But “Homesick Heart” isn’t about the road or the grind. It’s quieter than that.
“Homesick Heart” Comes From a Real Place
Bran wrote this one thinking about home. His parents. His sister. Old friends he hasn’t been able to get back to see in years.
“I wrote this song as I was reminiscing about my hometown and where I grew up, thinking about my parents, my sister and a few old friends of mine,” he said. “It’s been more than a few years since I’ve gotten a chance to go see them, so I hope they always know that I think about them often and that I miss them.”
That kind of honesty is hard to fake, and it comes through in every second of this track.
Why It Hits the Way It Does
There’s a specific kind of distance that grows when life gets busy and the years pile up. Not from any argument or falling out, just from time doing what time does.
“Homesick Heart” sits right in the middle of that feeling. It doesn’t reach for a big dramatic payoff or lean on production to carry it. The honesty does the heavy lifting, and Bran lets it.
