Big news today from one of Canada’s top country acts. Curtis Rempel from High Valley has announced that he has stepped away from the band. He has moved back to Canada to start a new company with his wife.
The band released a statement on social media to make the announcement.
“From as early as I can remember, my older brothers were in a band called High Valley,” Curtis explains. “I grew up watching them practice, going to their shows, and seeing them develop overall. Finally after 10 years, I was able to join the band!”
“Since then,” Curtis continues in a lengthy post,” I’ve been able to meet so many great people, collaborated with my hero Ricky Skaggs on multiple occasions, performed numerous times at the iconic Grand Ole Opry, toured non-stop, received number 1’s and gold & platinum records, and best of all celebrated country music with fans all across the world. I’m so thankful to have made all these memories!”
During the pandemic and time in quarantine, Curtis and his wife Myranda took time to explore their passions, dreams, and goals. Together, they decided to launch their home goods company Curt + Myr Co.
“I look forward to seeing where Brad and the rest of the band take High Valley in the next few years as they continue touring and recording new music. I wish them all the best and hope that they always wear my handcrafted belts on stage!”
What Does This Mean For High Valley?
High Valley is down another brother. In 2014, Bryan Rempel announced that he was leaving the band to focus on his family. This left Brad and Curtis to push the band forward. Now with Curtis exiting the band, one might think that this marks the end of High Valley. Brad says otherwise.
“Moving forward, I am so excited for you all to hear our new music and come see us on the road,” Brad says. “I am also excited for Curtis to start his new career and dive in to his own passions.”
So, High Valley may no longer be a family duo, but rather expanded to become a full band.
Brad and Bryan Rempel formed a band together more than two decades ago, and Curtis joined 10 years later. Bryan remained with High Valley until he left focus on family in 2014. That was when the band moved to Nashville after an award-winning career as Canadian touring musicians.
High Valley have been a staple in the Canadian country industry for years. They continually reach number 1 on the Canadian radio charts. They released a full-length album and two EPs with Warner Music Nashville, and have toured North America extensively. The Warner Music Nashville website shows that High Valley is no longer part of their active roster.
This leaves us wondering what’s next for this act.
No matter what’s to come, we wish Curtis and his wife Myranda best of luck with this move, and can’t wait to hear what’s next for the new High Valley band.
