We are so happy to be able to introduce you to a great Canadian country artist and his new music video and single “One Town Away”. It’s a song that’s so relatable and features Greg’s talent as a singer/songwriter.
On the surface, “One Town Away” is about getting the girl. But when you dig into the lyrics, you find that the song is really about finding yourself and connecting with your roots. To leave town with big expectations … only to find that all roads lead back home.
We can all relate to wanting to leave where we grew up to spread our wings and find our identities.
This song explores this idea.
In this great song by Greg Rider, he muses about finding the love of his life after exploring the world. Only to find out he didn’t have to go very far to find her. She was only “One Town Away”. As he says in the song: “I’ve been around the world looking for you girl, and I know it’s not a mistake that you were one town away.”
“This was the first song inspired by my roots,” Greg said on Instagram. “I was always running away from my hometown and running towards new opportunities. Those county lines could never keep me for long. After years of traveling,” he continued, “I’ve been thinking more and more about the day when I finally settle down (crazy eh?) I always think about when and where I will meet my person. I thought I would have found her by now, but i guess it’s not the right time. Imagine I travelled all around the world and she ended up being one town away? That’s what the song is all about.”
“One Town Away” really showcases Greg’s talent as a singer and a songwriter. He cowrote this song with Rich Cloke, another very talented Canadian country artist. Greg’s voice meshes so well with the guitars and melody … it’s a true testament to the writing chemistry between Greg and Rich.

In country music, the Front Porch has long been a place of reflection. A place where you can look at the life you have inside that front door. A place where time almost seems to stand still, where you can get away. It’s also a place where you can go to observe the world as it passes by you. To think about your place out there beyond the driveway.
