He had gold and traded it for glitter. That’s the idea behind Jessica Sole’s “Gold,” and she gets a lot of mileage out of it.

The Shelburne, Ontario singer-songwriter wrote it for anyone who’s been undervalued by the one person who should have seen them clearly. There’s heartbreak in it, sure. But the song is really about what comes after, when you stop waiting for someone else to recognize your worth.

The Thing He Missed

He’s busy chasing whatever glitters and shines. Meanwhile, he can’t see the gold he already had.

Country music has always loved a good turn of phrase, and this one is satisfying.

Jessica calls “Gold” “a confident, self love anthem, about knowing your worth when someone else can’t see your value.” For her, the lyrics are about realizing you don’t need a man to validate your self-worth, and “turning heartbreak into a newfound sense of confidence and independence.”

Who Made “Gold”

Jessica wrote “Gold” with Jordan Honsinger, who also produced it. Garrett Ward of The Renaissance mixed the track.

At its core is one simple belief: confidence in yourself is worth more than anyone’s approval.

From Shelburne to SiriusXM

Home for Jessica is Shelburne, at the end of a single lane highway. She started performing young and has been working at her songwriting for more than a decade.

That work paid off in 2024. “Heads Up” went to #1 on SiriusXM’s Top of the Country, and she passed 450,000 streams and 4.5 million TikTok views that same year.

Five of her singles have since reached the Top 30 on that chart.

The Songs That Got Her Here

“Fallin’ For You” put her on the cover of Amazon Music’s Breakthrough Country playlist, with editorial support from Apple Music as well. Then “Lightning Strikes” landed on Apple Music’s Canada’s Country and New In Country, along with Amazon’s Just North of Nashville and Fresh Country.

In late 2025, she signed with New Motor Records. Her first single for the label was “Strangers Don’t,” co-written with Patrick Kordyback and Madison Banham.

Hers to Keep

He can keep chasing the shiny stuff. Jessica already knows where the gold is.

In country music, the Front Porch has long been a place of reflection. A place where you can look at the life you have inside that front door. A place where time almost seems to stand still, where you can get away. It’s also a place where you can go to observe the world as it passes by you. To think about your place out there beyond the driveway.
