Canadian country artist Josh Ross has released a brand new single called “Born With a Boyfriend” and it’s a ballad that we can all relate to on some level.
It’s a love song about someone who you are crazy about but can never get a shot with them because they always seem to be taken. We all know people like that – people who go from relationship to relationship. The song is a guy telling other people that if you want your shot with her, not to wait.
Although this is not a break-up song, it really has the emotion of a crushing break-up song attached to it. There’s also a layer of humour to the single – which you don’t really expect until you start listening to the lyrics. “Born With a Boyfriend” is a lyric that really drives home the idea that this girl is ALWAYS taken. “I love the line ‘every town there’s a guy in a bar with a shot wishing he could get her back’ because it’s kind of a double meaning that he’s taking a shot and he wishes he had a shot to get her back,” Josh explained. “It’s all about taking that chance if you get the shot with the girl.”
This song is so easy to listen to. The melody and Josh Ross’s vocals blend so perfectly. It’s a great song and the chorus provides you with the perfect ear-worm to get stuck in your head. You’ll be singing along with the chorus after the first time you hear it.
