Lindsay Ell Makes History With New Single “Criminal”

Lindsay Ell hits number on the Country music charts

Today, Lindsay Ell has made history! Mark April 9th, 2018 on your calendars because Lindsay’s latest single “Criminal” has just hit the number one spot at Canadian country radio.

If you can believe it, this is the first time that a female solo artist from Canada has had a number 1 single since 2008. Let’s just take that in for a minute. A Canadian woman has not had a number 1 single at country radio in a decade… a DECADE!

The sheer craziness of that fact aside, it’s so great to see Lindsay’s name specifically on that chart. Lindsay Ell is so deserving of this. She has been working tirelessly, and is one of the hardest workers in the business.

Here’s what she had to say on Twitter this morning about her first #1 single.

Twitter has been on fire all day! Lindsay has been receiving words of love and congratulations from her fans, peers, and other industry professionals.

Fellow female Canadian country singer Madeline Merlo showed her love:

From National Music Director for Rogers Country Stations Amanda Kingsland:

Dallas Smith even sent his congratulations, despite getting ready for his Grand Ole Opry debut.

Jenn Dalen, the Program Director at Real Country 95.5:

The Canadian female country artist Jessica Mitchell also sent her a congratulatory note.

There have been so many amazing people sending Lindsay Ell their best. When looking through all the responses from female artists, there’s a real sense of genuine celebration from these women. People are thanking her for really pushing the boundaries of the genre, and representing all the great Canadian women in this industry. It’s really Great to see so many women supporting other women! That doesn’t happen too often in the entertainment industry.

In country music, the Front Porch has long been a place of reflection. A place where you can look at the life you have inside that front door. A place where time almost seems to stand still, where you can get away. It’s also a place where you can go to observe the world as it passes by you. To think about your place out there beyond the driveway.
