“Get Me There” is the latest single released by Shawn Austin. This is probably the most anticipated single from this Canadian country artist yet. It’s a really great song that was well worth the hype.
This single from Shawn Austin showcases his talent so perfectly. It’s the perfect song for his voice. The guitars and percussion are completely secondary to his voice (no disrespect for the instrumentalists on the track… Shawn just sings the hell out of it). The rich tone of his voice is really quite unique in the world of Canadian country music. It would be a total treat to hear an acoustic version of this song, in order to let the vocals really shine through.
The lyrics to the song are really cute! They just make you want to grab your person, give them a squeeze, and take them by the hand. While there’s not much of a story to the lyrics, they are very effective in inciting an emotion – particularly when paired with Shawn’s vocals and music.
In listening to this song, as well as his previous single “Paradise Found”, you can tell that he pulls inspiration from artists such as John Mayer in the musical style, Brett Eldridge, and there’s just a hint of Dan + Shay in his voice and vibe. A trifecta of musical prowess.

Shawn Austin’s “Get Me There” Nominated for Sirius XM Canada’s Top of the Country
Earlier this year, Sirius XM Canada announced that they are looking for the next big name in Canadian country music. Shawn Austin was selected as one of the 9 finalists of this competition with his song “Get Me There”. From there the competition turned to fans, asking country music fans across the country to vote for their favourite artists in Western Canada, Central Canada, and Eastern Canada. The voting for this closes on June 6th.
The top three (1 from each Canadian region) will then embark on an intense experience where they will receive education, mentoring, and exposure at various SiriusXM events. And finally open for the headlining act during the CCMA Country Music Week. After these last performances, one of the finalists will be named Sirius XMs Top of the Country artist, and receive $25,000.
It’s going to be a long competition, but well worthwhile. Shawn has some pretty stiff competition. But really, with a contest like this, and all the national exposure that comes from it, is there REALLY a winner and a loser? His involvement, should he make it through to the next round, will be enormous! We’re going to be hearing a lot about Shawn Austin over the next 12 months, and it’s only going to get better!
Can’t wait to hear more music from Shawn Austin.
In country music, the Front Porch has long been a place of reflection. A place where you can look at the life you have inside that front door. A place where time almost seems to stand still, where you can get away. It’s also a place where you can go to observe the world as it passes by you. To think about your place out there beyond the driveway.
