Country artist Samara Yung has officially helped kick off the summer with her new single “In Case You Missed Me”. And oh boy, it’s a good one!
“In Case You Missed Me” is a song you’re going to want to put on all your Summer playlists. Samara has a unique voice that is a smooth mix of country and pop.
For this single, Samara joined forces with acclaimed producer Danick Dupelle (Tebey, Emerson Drive) to create a sound that is uniquely her own. The track starts off softly, but the vocals take you through the single and builds to a beat that continues to drive the track forward.

Interview With Canadian Country Artist Samara Yung
Front Porch Music: Let’s start from the beginning- introduce yourselves to everyone at the Front Porch. What would you like everyone to know about you and your Canadian roots?
Samara Yung: Well I am extremely proud to be Canadian and am from Yorkton, Sask. I have lived here since I was 3 and I love my small hometown. I have a ton of connections to the community, and I love that I get to raise my daughter here.
Front Porch Music: Your latest track, “In Case You Missed Me;” you say you were in love from the second you heard it. What about this one resonated with you so much?
Samara Yung: I just find it so relatable. The melody and lyrics caught me right off the top. It’s a fresh take on a regretful breakup and a love that she just can’t give up on.
Front Porch Music: Describe your sound and who you grew up listening to that influenced the direction you’ve gone.
Samara Yung: Well, I LOVE ALL kinds of music. If you head over to my personal Spotify account you would have no idea what kind of artist I am based on my playlists and song selections. I have everything from musicals to techno pop and everything in between. But I actually grew up listening to rock music and artists like Streetheart, Alannah Myles, Loverboy, Pat Benatar and artist like that.
I never really got into country music until the 90s when artists like Martina McBride and Jo Dee Messina were dominating the country world. I feel like that shows through my diverse song selections when selecting songs for an album. And believe it or not, I actually toured with a music theater group for a year as well.
So I like to pull from all of the influences in my life to get my sound.
Front Porch Music: You got to produce ICYMM with Danick Dupelle. How was the creative process putting this track together?
Samara Yung: I love working with Danick! First of all he is extremely talented and a close friend of mine so I’m very comfortable working with him. I’m not afraid to let him know if I don’t like something and he pushes me out if my comfort zones vocally to get some killer tracks!
I absolutely give him creative flexibility to do what he believes works best for each song. Obviously, we talk direction but he is the mastermind behind it all. And I love the direction he has helped me take my music.
Front Porch Music: “Swerve” was your first Canadian top 30 track. How does this song fit into your development as an artist?
Samara Yung: I feel like I have finally found myself with these last few albums. I used to choose and write songs based on what I thought other people wanted to hear instead of choosing or writing songs based on what I wanted my sound to be or what I loved.
I have learned that my songs resonate more when I am choosing songs for me. “Swerve” was truly a testament to that.
Front Porch Music: What are the top tracks you’re currently listening to?
Samara Yung: I LOVE “Kiss Kiss” by Madeline Merlo, and “Getcha” by Matt Lang!!
Front Porch Music: What is your biggest piece of advice for young artists looking to make their way in country music in Canada?
Samara Yung: My biggest piece of advice is to surround yourself with good people.
People that believe in you and love you for who you are. Stay true to who you are always, believe in yourself and never give up. Nothing worth it comes easy and it will take a long time to get anywhere.
It took me 15 years as an independent artist to get a top 30 and it took a lot of hard work to get there.
Front Porch Music: Is there anything else you’d like to share?
Samara Yung: I also would love people to know that I am a mother to a beautiful little girl.
I continue push myself and pursue music in this crazy industry to show her that you can continue to chase your dreams and do what you love.
I wouldn’t change a thing.
