Steven Lee Olsen has already had a big year, and we’re only halfway through 2020.
He’s coming off the release of four new tracks, “If You’re With Me“, “Unhappy Hour“, “Talkin’ About Last Night“, and his latest, “Can’t Not“, the follow up to his 2019 smash single, “Hello Country”.
On top of this, he and his fiance moved into their new home in Nashville in February, and tied the knot in May
We Talk To Steven About His Move To Nashville
I had the pleasure of catching up with Steven to chat about what he’s been up to and how he’s staying busy, while quarantining with his wife at their new home in Nashville.
How Steven Lee Olsen Is Coping Through Quarantine
Olsen has been busy writing from his home-studio, connecting with co-writers over Zoom.
He says it definitely isn’t the same as collaborating in a writing room. “You can feel the chemistry in the room. This takes more prep. I go in with a chorus, some chords, and we have something to build off of.”
He’s grateful though that not a lot has changed, given the circumstances. He’s able to continue to write, arguably more, from his home studio, while staying safe.
I had to ask about the teaser he posted to Instagram on July 23rd.
Olsen posted a photo in the studio, with the caption “Finishing SLO 2020 Jams for y’all today! Mix day is definitely a day I look forward to, for me it’s fun diving into the finishing touches. It’s also the last chance to change any last minute shit that’s bothering you. Lol! I truly pour my heart into these songs from start to finish and I’m hoping these reach yours too!”
New Music From Steven
Olsen says he’s been writing every day, sometimes on his own; sometimes with others. Four new tracks are finished for what will be his next release a little later this year.
“As an artist, you like to see your own growth. Even from last year to now, I’ve been able to do that.” Olsen says upcoming releases will be some form of complement to his most recent releases.
Olsen has been a writer in Nashville for years. He’s written songs for many artists, most recently including Keith Urban, Dallas Smith, and Billy Currington. He identifies himself as a creative person, and writing is really part of his every day. As a writer and artist, he often is faced with the decision of keeping a song for himself, or having it performed by other artists. He says it’s a “good problem to have, as much as it’s a hard thing to do.”
One thing’s for sure … 2020 has been a great year for Steven Lee Olsen, and there’s more in store for the latter half of the year. We’re looking forward to what that looks like for fans and listeners.

In country music, the Front Porch has long been a place of reflection. A place where you can look at the life you have inside that front door. A place where time almost seems to stand still, where you can get away. It’s also a place where you can go to observe the world as it passes by you. To think about your place out there beyond the driveway.
