From the driving first beats and sultry tones of “Something New”, you can tell the Canadian Country music landscape is getting an exciting new voice in Amberlea Bruch.
Chronicling the excitement that comes along with the beginning of a new relationship, and with lyrics such as “midnight to sunrise babe, you’re still on my mind” and “a little talk, a little action, you’re a good distraction, I can’t help myself”, Amberlea perfectly captures the sizzling thrill of those first few moments in love.
While “Something New” is Amberlea’s debut single, the south-western Ontarian is no stranger to songwriting. Learning to play guitar and piano as a teenager gave her the basics. But what she really wanted to do was sing and write her own songs. She made that her focus when she picked up the guitar again in University.
In addition to writing her own music, she’s also a huge supporter of other female singer-songwriters. As a result, she’s the co-creator of the Songbirds Series. The Songbirds Series is an all female Canadian singer-songwriter community focused on building up female Canadian artists by providing them with a platform to connect and perform.
The standout of “Something New”, however, is Amberlea’s lyrical and velvety voice. It grabs you right away and takes you right into the story she’s telling, and this reviewer is excited for more of those stories to come.
And you know I just love a song that has a fiddle solo!
