Interview With Canadian Country Artists Buck Twenty

Front Porch: Thanks so much for joining us on the Front Porch for the first time! Since it’s your first time on the Porch, it would be great for you to introduce our audience to you. Tell us about Buck Twenty.

Buck Twenty: Hi guys, it’s Aidan and Mike and we are Buck Twenty. We are singer/songwriters born and raised in Windsor/Essex, Ontario. We have been playing together for nearly 8 years and have been awarded a few accolades including; a CMAO Rising Star nomination, being CCMA Spotlight Finalists, being Boots & Hearts Emerging Artists Finalists and having a song in Top 16 of the International Songwriting Contest.

Front Porch: It’s hard to believe that it’s been 4 years since we’ve had new music from Buck Twenty. What can fans expect from you after this hiatus, how have you evolved as artists in that time?

Buck Twenty: We hope that fans can hear the maturity in our new music. We started writing/recording music when we were so young, we needed those 4 years to experience life a little more. We got to go through heartbreaks, new loves, ups, and downs, things that only come from living life. It’s been a long time, but we are glad that we took the time.

Front Porch: Congrats on the release of “All I Can Do”! Tell us about this song – what about this song caught your attention?

Buck Twenty: Thank you! “All I Can Do” was written by three #1 Billboard songwriters; Justin Wilson (Drunk Me- Mitchell Tenpenny), Chris Stevens (Everything’s Gonna Be Alright- David Lee Murphy feat. Kenny Chesney) and John King (We Went-Randy Houser). The thing that drew us to this song was its energy. It was fun, upbeat and we connected with the song right away, so we jumped on the opportunity to record it.

Front Porch: Did it feel great to be back in the studio? What was the recording process like for “All I Can Do”?

Buck Twenty: It felt amazing to be back in the studio. We also have never recorded anything, like, at the level we did with this single. We got to record with Grammy Nominated and Juno Award-winning producer Brian Howes and JVP. They are two of the nicest, most talented people we have ever worked with, so they really helped bring this song to another level.

Front Porch: What’s next for Buck Twenty – can we expect more music, a tour (once this global crisis is over)?

Buck Twenty: We have an EP that will hopefully be out soon and we will get back to playing shows as soon as we can after the quarantine is over!

Front Porch: Speaking of the global crisis. What are you doing to pass the time while practicing social distancing?

Buck Twenty: We have done a few live streaming concerts. We really miss playing and so those have been a lot of fun. But, we have found ourselves having more time than usual to spend with those who are quarantined with us. So, we have been spending a lot more time doing things together as a family; puzzles, dinners and other time killers. So, that time together has been a blessing during such an odd time.

Front Porch: Thanks so much, and congrats again on the release of “All I Can Do”, we can’t wait to hear what’s next for you!

In country music, the Front Porch has long been a place of reflection. A place where you can look at the life you have inside that front door. A place where time almost seems to stand still, where you can get away. It’s also a place where you can go to observe the world as it passes by you. To think about your place out there beyond the driveway.
