Paige grew up in St. John’s, Newfoundland, sitting at the kitchen table while her dad, a songwriter, taught her guitar parts and told her to “sing something.” She didn’t realize until years later that what they were doing had a name.

At nine, her dad brought her along on a Nashville writing trip, and she spent it tucked in the corner of his co-write sessions. That same trip, she saw Taylor Swift on the Red Tour. Between the two, she came home with the music bug for good.
Her dad’s own background explains a lot about where her sound comes from. He played in a pop-punk rock band before he ever wrote a country song, and Paige says once people hear the full backstory, her mix of country, pop, punk, and hip hop makes a lot more sense.
She moved to Nashville, drove down from Newfoundland with her mom and sister over several days, ferry included. Her first real single, “Southern Drawl,” became an iHeartRadio Future Star pick, her first top 40 hit on country radio, and had a hand in her first CCMA nomination.
On this episode, Paige also talks about winning the second year of Country Rising, the East Coast turning out in force to help vote her in, and the moment in a Nashville studio hallway when she found out she’d won. The prize includes a spot on a cross-Canada tour, something she’s had on her bucket list for years.
