Well this was an interesting week in Canadian country music – we finally have a new single hitting the top of the charts! The spot for top single of the week at country radio went to Dallas Smith for his great song Sleepin’ Around.
The top three songs of the week at Canadian country radio are all really great songs from really talented artists who are totally deserving of being in the top three. All of these songs sound really fresh at country radio. This time of year typically seems really monotone (aka kinda boring) for new music, so these songs are a nice change of pace.
These are the top three songs at Canadian country radio this week:
Dallas Smith – Sleepin’ Around
This single is very typical for a Dallas Smith song (duh). Despite its familiarity, it’s a really great song that talks about a guy trying to get over a girl. The music video for this song is probably the best cinematic piece of work from Dallas Smith. Take a look at this beautiful piece of art. It does exactly what a music video should – compliment the song and augment its emotions.
Meghan Patrick – Country Music Made Me Do It
Meghan Patrick is killing it with her latest album that was released on January 12th. The title single from her sophomore album Country Music Made Me Do It is the second most popular song at country radio this week. This song is really fun and a great leading single for her album. If you haven’t heard her album yet, you really need to! Every one of the singles on the record have legs to stand on their own and could be released as a hit single. Can’t wait to see which single comes next – we’re guessing this song will be on the charts for a while.
Dean Brody – 8th Day
Dean Brody brings in the third most popular song for the week at country radio. As far as Dean Brody singles go, 8th Day is great. It’s much more of a conventional Dean Brody song that his core fanbase will be really happy about. It’ll be interesting to see which of his great 10 tracks on Beautiful Freakshow will be released next.

In country music, the Front Porch has long been a place of reflection. A place where you can look at the life you have inside that front door. A place where time almost seems to stand still, where you can get away. It’s also a place where you can go to observe the world as it passes by you. To think about your place out there beyond the driveway.
