Jess Moskaluke Ignites an Eternal Flame with “Last Rodeo”

Jess Moskaluke "Last Rodeo"

Growing up in rural Saskatchewan, Jess Moskaluke knows a little something about writing a country love song. Following the completion of her Life of Me tour last November, she has been nothing short of busy while writing and recording “Last Rodeo”, all while preparing for the arrival of her first baby!

“Last Rodeo” comes straight from her cowgirl heart, describing her feelings for her person in such a beautiful way. Explaining the way you feel about someone can be difficult, but Jess has found a way to do it on her terms and that this isn’t just another phase in her life.

Unwavering Love for Loving Lyrics

Following the announcement of her first pregnancy, “Last Rodeo” is a song describing what your last love is like. Using her power of words, Jess is able to describe this feeling like none other. Being in this stage of life, it is easy to get lost in the rush of how quickly life can pass by. This song explains that this isn’t just an era of Jess’ life, and that she is in it for the long run.

Being in love and holding onto the rush of this feeling can be overbearing, and it can be scary, especially when real life plays a big factor in it. Jess captures how tough it can be, but also how willing she is perfectly with her lyrics:

Feel the rush when they open them gates
Kick the dust up, baby, better hold the reins
And if that red sun don’t rise tomorrow
Gonna love you like its my last rodeo

Though the song isn’t a ballad, it’s so easy to sense how persistent Jess is to explain her feelings, and how she yearns for this love. She belts the lyrics so longingly, and the words fall so smoothly together, it’s impossible not to fall in love with this song!

Leaving a Mark Bigger than a Mapdot

Jess Moskaluke is no stranger to making fantastic music. After her breakout song “Country Girls”, she quickly became a top Canadian-Country artist, earning platinum nods with her songs “Cheap Wine and Cigarettes” and “Knock Off”, which are just as easy to obsess over as any of her other hits.

Growing up in a rural town, Jess’ down to earth energy is easily found in her artistry. She is authentic to her hometown, and often uses this to channel her country-rooted heart into her music. Whether it’s on the stage or behind the scenes, Jess is who she is. She has recently taken a step into the business side of music, on top of killing it on stage. Tying in the moving pieces of finding your footing in a new journey, “Last Rodeo” perfectly explains that though times can be tough, she will remain in the journey no matter how high the waters may rise.

A song for the heart, from the heart

It’s not easy to consistently release music that fits a vibe already curated that beats the last, but Jess seems to come by this easily. When writing a song with such strong feeling and desire like this, when it comes from the heart it must be easier.

Alongside the release of this single, Jess wrote ““Last Rodeo” is a love song for the ages. It’s about finding, meeting, and spending forever with your person and making every moment count like it’s the very last time.” You can feel the care that was put into this song through the lyrics, through the instrument and sound, and from the love Jess has shown for the song herself.

As a lifetime concertgoer, I found my love for country music pretty early, and it’s been a journey ever since. Aside from attending any live show I can get to, I love live sports, specifically volleyball, crocheting, anything pop culture, and sharing my love of live music with everyone around.
