After much teasing on social media, Jess Moskaluke has released a new single to country radio called “Camouflage”. This song is a haunting and totally relatable breakup song.
“Camouflage” is about hiding what’s really happening beneath the surface after a one-sided breakup. How on the outside we can look like we’re loving life, and moving on. But inside, we’re heartbroken and empty. The lyrics, the vocals from Jess Moskaluke, and the music all paint such a great image, that it’s impossible to listen to this song without feeling a pang of hurt.
The contrast between the chorus’ and the verses in this song are all part of the brilliance. Producer Corey Crowder and the rest of the team, did a phenomenal job with this piece of art. The verses are slow, and the chorus picks it up. It’s almost like the upbeat chorus is all part of the camouflage hiding the real feelings you get in the verses. Genius.
It’s really hard not to feel something when you’re listening to this song.
This track is the 4th single released of Jess’ album Past The Past which was written by Jess Moskaluke herself, Kelly Archer, Lindsay Rimes, and Emily Shackelton. These talented songwriters did such a great job and have, in our opinion, created one of the greatest breakup songs in country music. We’d be surprised if this doesn’t make it to the top 10.
The timing of the release of this single is a little odd though. This is the time of year where artists are releasing their upbeat Summer jams. We don’t normally hear songs like this until September, or closer to the Winter. Although, that could have been part of the release strategy. This song will stand out at radio. As opposed to trying to stand out among other upbeat Summer songs, a slower jam may actually help it do just that.

Jess Moskaluke “Camouflage” Lyrics
I got my high heels on
Got my hair down and done
Pink lipstick touch up
Girls coming to pick me up
Yeah we’re headed downtown
Nobody gonna find out that I’m
Chorus:
Blending in with my good time friends
Hiding the pain that I’m feeling
Gonna dance, gonna move
All night like I ain’t missing you
But the neon and the whiskey
And the entourage
Are camouflage
Camouflage
Baby if I know you
You’re gonna show up here tonight
Realize what you had to lose
And do your best to catch my eye
But what you don’t know
Is that it’s all just a show
Yeah I’m
Chorus:
Blending in with my good time friends
Hiding the pain that I’m feeling
Gonna dance, gonna move
All night like I ain’t missing you
But the neon and the whiskey
And the entourage
Are camouflage
Camouflage
From the tears I’ve cried
From the bad goodbye
From the sleepless nights and wanting you
Wanting you
Yeah I’m
Chorus:
Blending in with my good time friends
Hiding the pain that I’m feeling
Gonna dance, gonna move
All night like I ain’t missing you
But the neon and the whiskey
And the entourage
Are camouflage
Camouflage
In country music, the Front Porch has long been a place of reflection. A place where you can look at the life you have inside that front door. A place where time almost seems to stand still, where you can get away. It’s also a place where you can go to observe the world as it passes by you. To think about your place out there beyond the driveway.
