[EXCLUSIVE PREMIERE] Mackenzie Leigh Meyer Releases Music Video For “Barbie Doll”

Mackenzie Leigh Meyer's single "Barbie Doll" Music Video Still

It wasn’t too long ago that Mackenzie Leigh Meyer introduced her latest single “Barbie Doll” to the world. Now, we’re excited to premiere the music video right here!

The music video encapsulates the song’s theme of not fitting in to the stereotype of what it means to be a woman.

“So I’ve never been what one might refer to as a ‘girly-girl,’” Mackenzie explains. “”Barbie Doll was kind of born as a response to people assuming I should be that in order to be valuable as a women, which I think sucks because it limits someone’s potential if they feel like they continually have to adhere to gender stereotypes that don’t necessarily apply to them.”

“Because ‘Barbie Doll’ is about being authentically who you are,” she explains, “I wanted to have the music video correlate with me being my most authentic self, and for me that’s when I get to perform.”

Mackenzie teamed up with Roadhouse Productions to bring the story of the song to life.

Together they decided to film the music video during her show at Stampede Ranch in Guelph. “That room is WILD,” she says, “so the filming was a blast.”

In country music, the Front Porch has long been a place of reflection. A place where you can look at the life you have inside that front door. A place where time almost seems to stand still, where you can get away. It’s also a place where you can go to observe the world as it passes by you. To think about your place out there beyond the driveway.
