Front Porch Sponsored Post Canadian folk/rock singer/songwriter and guitar slinger Glen Foster has released a new album and single to the world. His new single “Do Like You Do” is from this BC man’s latest album titled Not Far Away.

“Do Like You Do” is a nostalgic song whose sound brings back so many memories of classic country artists. It’s the perfect mix of folk and bluegrass with a really catchy chorus that sticks in your head.

The entire album is like that. It’s filled with songs of classical sounds. “I don’t care what anyone says,” Foster offers off the top about the new release. “Listen to music however you want, but I still like albums!

“My albums are always a journey that takes you somewhere,” he continues. “And the best way to get there is from start to finish. Not Far Away reflects on places, things, and concepts that can seem distant but really are not far away, by measure of distance, time or attitude.”

“Time, distance, events: They’re all relative,” Glen says. “Some things seem like they’re a long way off when in fact they’re very close, while other things seem so close when they’re actually far off. Life is full of coincidences and connections and uncertainty.”

Glen Foster is an artist that has continually changed his sound and message with every release. “I don’t bother to write a song that sounds like something else,” he says. “For me to be inspired about something I’m writing, it has to be new. It has to be fresh. That’s the kind of thing that lights my fire and gets me excited. I am kind of a stickler for excellence. But then it’s great to improvise. That’s when the free spirit will flow.”

This album is a wonderful collection of songs that are sure to bring you back. Be sure to check out his single “Do Like You Do” and add it to your playlists!

Lyrics to “Do Like You Do”

I do not Do Like You Do, no I do not Do Like You Do
You will when I won’t, you do when I don’t
I do not Do Like You Do

We all have our favourite thing that lasts until it ends
We all hide sometimes behind a face that pretends
Id’ rather fight than switch and drive right in the ditch
But it doesn’t mean that we can’t still be friends

Some say love was meant for others but not them
Some say that the law is only there for them that sin
They preach kindness for the weak and forgiveness for the meek
But they’re never going down that road again

Robert Lee of Harrisburg was born one stormy night
His politics leaned left though he was reaching for the right
He had plans for this and schemes for that, scams are through his life
But they buried him before he saw the light

You might see me Stepping Out On Saturday Night
You might Party Out There Tonight if you Feel Alright
You might sing and dance every time you get the chance
And never know you’re such a scary sight

Everybody knows a willow bow is made for bending
Everybody appreciates a helping hand somebody’s lending
Everybody has a story some are short and some are long
And you never so NO to a happy ending

In country music, the Front Porch has long been a place of reflection. A place where you can look at the life you have inside that front door. A place where time almost seems to stand still, where you can get away. It’s also a place where you can go to observe the world as it passes by you. To think about your place out there beyond the driveway.
