Canadian country icons James Barker Band have teamed up with US country icon Dierks Bentley in a collaboration you didn’t know you needed. “New Old Trucks” is an anthem for every small-town truck enthusiast.

James Barker Band are among the most consistent artists in the Canadian country landscape. They release hit after hit after hit. So any collaboration they make is sure to succeed.

They are one of the more decorated Canadian acts in recent history, and Dierks is a 14x GRAMMY award nominee. So to say this is a legendary collaboration would be an understatement.

“We were so surprised no one had written this song yet,” said JBB frontman James Barker on how the track came to be. “When we got in the room to write a few months ago two of us actually came separately with this exact idea so we knew we had something good. When writing songs you always want every lyric to be true but sometimes you have to stretch things a bit. That wasn’t the case with this – every lyric was something one of us had experienced; the first line is actually about my first truck.”

This song was written by some of the industry’s top songwriters: James Barker, Jordan Minton, Hunter Phelps, and Casey Brown. This track is filled with nostalgia from the smell of old leather interiors they remember so fondly. “New Old Trucks” is a story that so many will relate to whether it’s tied to a truck or not … of the tangible things in life that we hold closest because of the memories they have helped us create.

“I’ve tried to write a few songs over the years that reflect how I feel about my ‘94 Chevy truck, and why I’ve never gotten a new one,” said Bentley. “After hearing this song however, I knew I’d never try to write one again…this song says it all. I’m honoured that the James Barker Band invited me to be a part of it. It hits home with me big time.”

This single is sure to see some great airplay on both sides of the border. It’s a song that fits so well on the radio, and will be amazing to watch live.

Looking forward to seeing how this song performs. Be sure to stream it everywhere you get your music.

Lyrics To “New Old Trucks” By James Barker Band

Off-white, 350 Farmer 4
Gotta pump the throttle, gotta slam the door
Pulls right but it’ll pull anything
Sounds good but man it drinks gasoline
Cherry mark on the seat from a Camel Crush
And that pre-game burnt CD’s still stuck
There’s plenty of shined up Chevys rolling right off the line
Yeah, but they ain’t got nothing on mine

‘Cause they ain’t making new old trucks
Can’t fake the fade or the rocker panel rust
Dent from a fence post I didn’t see coming
Scratch on the hood from her Levi buttons
Daddy had it for the first hundred K
I drove the rest, wouldn’t sell or trade
That many miles of memories for a million bucks
‘Cause they ain’t making new old trucks
Whatcha know about it, Dierks?

Seen the beach, seen the creek
Seen the Bible Belt
Sunrise after all night raising hell
Didn’t break down when I did
Never gonna find another one like this

‘Cause they ain’t making new old trucks
Can’t fake the fade or the rocker panel rust
Dent from a fence post I didn’t see coming
Scratch on the hood from her Levi buttons
Daddy had it for the first hundred K
I drove the rest, wouldn’t sell or trade
That many miles of memories for a million bucks
‘Cause they ain’t making new old trucks, mmm

Yeah, you can’t find ’em
You can’t buy ’em
Pretty girl’s like ’em
Good ol’ boys drive ’em
‘Round map-dot towns
‘Til they run ’em into the ground

‘Cause they ain’t making new old trucks
Can’t fake the fade or the rocker panel rust
Dent from a fence post I didn’t see coming
Scratch on the hood from her Levi buttons
Daddy had it for the first hundred K
I drove the rest, wouldn’t sell or trade
That many miles of memories for a million bucks
‘Cause they ain’t making new old trucks
No, they ain’t making new old trucks

Yeah, you can’t find ’em
You can’t buy ’em
Pretty girl’s like ’em
Good ol’ boys drive ’em
Round map-dot towns
‘Til they run ’em into the ground
