Dallas Smith and Terri Clark Release New Music – One Drink Ago

Terri Clark and Dallas Smith new single One Drink Ago

Huge collaboration announcement! Dallas Smith has joined up with Canadian country music royalty, and good friend, Terri Clark to create some killer music. This new single is called One Drink Ago.

This single hit country radio today, March 28th, and is already being picked up by stations across the country, and will likely become one of the songs of the Summer, and we have it for you here!

It’s a song about two friends going for a night out, and the trouble you can get in when you throw booze into the mix.

This song is really fun! The song starts with Dallas and features his signature sound and guitars. When Terri comes in at the chorus, it’s like their voices are a perfect match. After the chorus, Terri comes in with her more classic sound, but accompanied with a more modern melody. It’s very different, but overall it works.

Dallas Joined Us On The Porch

At first glance this seems like a totally weird collaboration (although not as weird as the Carrie Underwood and Ludacris collaboration). But when you understand their history it makes more sense… sorta. Both of these artists share the same booking agent, which is how they met, and became quick friends.

This song is going to be released on iTunes and Spotify Friday March 31st, and they are going to be performing this single together at the Grand Ole Opry (for real) on April 10th – which is probably more exciting than the news of the new single.

Did you know that Terri Clark is the only female Canadian country artist to be a member of the Grand Ole Opry? Isn’t that crazy? I thought for sure Shania was a member.

What do you think of this collaboration – random, or awesome?

Lyrics to “One Drink Ago” by Dallas Smith and Terry Clark

Thank God, I needed that one more whiskey
And somebody bumped you right up against me
And you spilled your drink on my favorite shirt
Had nothing to lose so I dropped that line
That never works
But it worked on you

One drink ago I was playing it cool
You were here with friends, I was shooting pool
Now it’s crazy how a “Hey what you having?”
Turned into a “How’d this happen?”
Now the whole night’s spinning like an empty bottle
With who knows what else left to follow
It’s 3 am, just the two of us
Standing here, wondering how we’ll ever live without
What we didn’t know
One drink ago

I swear I never saw you coming
Never thought I’d fall like this from me stumbling
Into your glass, into your arms
Now we’re under the stars, leaning on the car
In the parking lot, boy look what you started

One drink ago I was playing it cool
You were here with friends, I was shooting pool
Now it’s crazy how a “Hey what you having?”
Turned into a “How’d this happen?”
Now the whole night’s spinning like an empty bottle
With who knows what else left to follow
It’s 3 am, just the two of us
Standing here, wondering how we’ll ever live without
What we didn’t know
One drink ago

Bet you didn’t even know my name
Bet you weren’t looking for a heart to tame
And we’d been watching the starlight fade away

One drink ago I was playing it cool
You were here with friends, I was shooting pool
Now it’s crazy how a “Hey what you having?”
Turned into a “How’d this happen?”
Now the whole night’s spinning like an empty bottle
With who knows what else left to follow
It’s 3 am, just the two of us
Standing here, wondering how we’ll ever live without
What we didn’t know
One drink ago

In country music, the Front Porch has long been a place of reflection. A place where you can look at the life you have inside that front door. A place where time almost seems to stand still, where you can get away. It’s also a place where you can go to observe the world as it passes by you. To think about your place out there beyond the driveway.
