Owen Riegling’s Latest Single “The Call”

Owen Riegling "The Call"

Owen Riegling is becoming a familiar name in the Ontario country music scene. He’s back with a new self-released track, “The Call“. A change of pace in comparison to what we’ve heard so far, The Call is an emotional ballad about loss, grief and getting that call.

“This song means a lot to me. I started writing it over a year ago after the loss of a close friend.”

None of us are strangers to losing people close to us. Riegling channeled the feelings of losing a friend, but also losing his Aunt, and poured those emotions into “The Call”.

Riegling says, “I’ve never been good at talking about how I feel. Music helps get my thoughts out and I think this song is a product of that.”

Seeing artists appeal to their audience and share their emotional experiences is a direction we see when they become comfortable with their sound but also their identity. It’s one thing to put out songs that grab the attention of listeners, but to keep that attention, and get to tell stories through music that people want to listen to is how they stay relevant.

“This song can be about whoever you want it to be about. Getting that call is devastating, but it’s something we can all relate to – and something we sure as hell will never forget.”

Owen Riegling shares “The Call” as his fourth and, definitely, most emotionally-rooted independent release.

In country music, the Front Porch has long been a place of reflection. A place where you can look at the life you have inside that front door. A place where time almost seems to stand still, where you can get away. It’s also a place where you can go to observe the world as it passes by you. To think about your place out there beyond the driveway.
