Jason Benoit’s latest single, “25 to Life,” has him returning to his roots and the essence of East Coast Folk and Canadiana influences that shaped his musical journey.

Exploring a number of creative avenues over the course of his latest releases, “25 to Life” channels a rustic, Americana vibe that we haven’t seen from Jason before.

The Influence Of Sam Barber And Zach Bryan

“Growing up in Western Newfoundland, on the edge of Atlantic Canada, another huge Musical influence for me was East Coast Folk and Canadiana (eg. Stan Rogers, Blue Rodeo, GBS). So with the re-emergence of the Folk/Americana sound on the airwaves with the likes of Zach Bryan and Sam Barber, I was inspired to revisit this side of my musical influences and ’25 to Life’ is my first interpretation of this sound. This is the first single from a larger project that I’m excited to be producing using my Newfoundland Band; to hone in on the most authentic sound as possible.”

These influences like Sam Barber and Zach Bryan, paired with Jason’s East Coast roots have come together for a fresh take. Jason also draws from influences of East Coast artists like Stan Rogers, Blue Rodeo, and Great Big Sea.
