Hitting streaming platforms June 23rd, Justine Blanchet’s 5-track launch sets the stage of navigating the dating scene in modern times … always an adventure with lots of different realities.
Each track tells the tale of a unique experience of falling in and out of love and we are all in for the journey that is Don’t Ask Me to Dance.
Produced in Nashville by Grammy-nominated Danick Dupelle (Tyler Joe Miller, Tebey, Alli Walker), Blanchet’s artistic spirit is showcased by featuring 14 stellar songwriters, to mention a few; MacKenzie Porter, Madeline Merlo, Laci Kaye Booth, Emma-Lee, Lindsay Rimes, Kelly Archer, Jason Nix, and Derrick Southerland.
Leading Up To The Release
A Quebec native, now spending much of her time in Nashville, Blanchet has been busy with live shows including the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, Big Valley Jamboree, the Gatlingburg Songwriter’s Festival, and three Diamonds in the Rough showcases during Canadian Country Music Week.
Also known to perform in both English and “en Francais,” Justine has performed at the Festival Country Lotbinière and the Festival Western de St-Tite.
Don’t Ask Me to Dance follows ten previous singles including 2019’s “Strong” and 2021’s “Get out of the Mud”. She has collected an impressive 1 million combined Spotify stream and YouTube views.
Don’t Ask Me to Dance has something for everyone
Justine struck a chord in her debut EP as an independent artist “Ever since we started planning this project back in 2021, my goal has been to challenge myself as an artist and create something relatable for others.” Hoping that listeners will find a bit of their story in each tune and bring a mutuality that we go through exploring life. “Dating is full of adventures – both good and bad – but always memorable, so it felt like the right theme to build the EP around.”
Track List and Breakdown
Starting off with two previously released singles, first, “Hard to Love”, highlights the struggle of loving someone who is emotionally unavailable, getting tired of the “cold then the hot”. Number two is “Heart Less”, a snap track that reminds reckless behaviour in relationships happens when you ignore what’s in your head and follow your heart. “
“Cheap Sunglasses” is a ballad about a shield put up when keeping yourself closed off from getting hurt again. This tune is the next single to come to Canadian Radio in July, paired with a music video. “Waste The Weekend” is an upbeat song that exudes the feeling of lightheartedness when falling in love. The title track “Don’t Ask Me to Dance” can be summed up by the phrase “Know your worth … then add tax”. Being unbothered on a night out to have fun with just your friends.
