Jesse Slack Brings Us Back to “Before It Was A Memory” In Newest Single

Jesse Slack "Before It Was A Memory"

It seems like Jesse Slack just doesn’t take breaks. His first kid, Rebel James, was born in mid-December. Before the end of that month Jesse dropped “Who You’re Gonna Be” in dedication to his newborn son.

Now, just a short while into 2022, Jesse is back with a new track titled “Before It Was A Memory”.

On the new song, Jesse waxes poetic about how quickly life moves. He sings about his youth, breaking rules and being “just a little too loud.” It’s a bittersweet anthem about living in the moment and appreciating all the time you get. Jesse recognizes that it’s a little too easy to leave the “good old days” before you even know you’re in them.

The song sounds exactly like the feeling of revisiting the small town you grew up in, thinking about how fast the world changes and how easy it is to lose track of time.

2022: A Big Year For Jesse Slack?

This year has the potential to be the biggest ever for Jesse Slack.

Not only will it be the first year of fatherhood for the artist. He’s also clearly having a strong start musically and professionally.

Late last month, he took to Instagram to announce a partnership with Quaker Canada. The deal clearly means a lot to Jesse, as he spent time living in Peterborough where the Quaker Oats factory resides.

As someone who lived in Peterborough for a number of years, I can say for certain that the factory is an iconic piece of the city. And, if you go out at the right time of day, you can smell oatmeal from a mile away!

Jesse also recently announced that he’s on the second ballot for the Country Music Association of Ontario’s Rising Star award for Songwriter of the Year, for his collaboration with Robyn Ottolini on “Tell You Everything”. We wish nothing but the best of luck for Jesse in this round of voting!
