Canadian Country artist Dean Brody will be honoured with the CCMA Award of Achievement as the recipient of the Gary Slaight Music Humanitarian Award for 2023.
This prestigious award recognizes Brody’s exceptional contributions through The Dean Brody Foundation. The presentation will take place during Country Music Week 2023 in Hamilton, ON from September 14 to 16.

The Gary Slaight Music Humanitarian Award acknowledges individuals or events that have made remarkable humanitarian contributions through country music. Dean Brody’s foundation aims to give a voice to the voiceless and has been instrumental in various initiatives.
Expressing his gratitude, Brody states, “I am incredibly honored to receive this year’s Gary Slaight Music Humanitarian Award. It allows us to shed light on the causes close to my heart and supported by this foundation. Our partnership with IJM has expanded our impact, and together, we have achieved so much for exploited children. I sincerely thank the CCMA and the Slaight family for this honor.”

Giving back to those in need is a core belief of the Slaight Family Foundation, and we wholeheartedly support Dean’s endeavors. He truly deserves this Humanitarian Award, and I congratulate him on this recognition.”
Since its establishment in 2011, The Dean Brody Foundation has been dedicated to rescuing and preventing the exploitation and trafficking of young girls worldwide. Initially focusing on Brazil, Brody has donated over $500,000 to the organization and made multiple self-funded trips to support initiatives such as Meninadança and their “Pink Houses” project, providing safe homes for at-risk girls along Brazil’s BR-116, known as the “exploitation highway.”
In 2021, Brody expanded the foundation’s mission by partnering with the International Justice Mission (IJM) to combat online exploitation of children (OSEC) in the Philippines and prevent harm before it occurs. Additionally, he has supported various grassroots charities across Canada and donated $60,000 to the local minor hockey community in Cranbrook, B.C., in partnership with the NHLPA, ensuring children from financially constrained families can access the sport.
CCMA President Amy Jeninga praises Brody’s extraordinary impact on communities globally, stating, “Dean’s dedication to using his platform for positive change and his commitment to causes both at home and abroad are truly admirable. We are delighted to recognize and celebrate his selfless mission.”
The CCMA Award of Achievement, named after the Slaight Music Foundation, will be presented to Dean Brody during a private industry event at Country Music Week 2023.
