The Chris Goodwin Band (CGB) is back with a brand-new single, “G n’ R Tee”, a country-rock ballad that captures the power of small moments and the nostalgia they can carry.
Inspired by a real-life experience, the song blends heartfelt storytelling with the band’s signature mix of country and rock, creating a track that feels both personal and universally relatable.
The Story Behind G n’ R Tee
The inspiration for “G n’ R Tee” came from a simple yet powerful moment in Chris Goodwin’s life—seeing his partner wearing an old Guns N’ Roses t-shirt he had planned to throw away.

“Seeing my partner wear my old Guns N’ Roses t-shirt that I was trying to throw away made me realize how something so simple could be incredibly meaningful and unforgettable. She still wears it to this day,” says Goodwin.
That small but significant moment became the foundation of the song—turning an everyday occurrence into a heartfelt anthem about love, memory, and the little things that end up meaning the most.
A Last-Minute Revelation That Transformed the Song
When CGB first recorded “G n’ R Tee”, the song felt nearly complete—except for one key element. The original guitar solo, while strong, didn’t quite capture the energy Goodwin envisioned. Then, in May 2024, just before the band opened for Nice Horse, inspiration struck.
“We were waiting in the green room to go out and open for Nice Horse, and it hit me—the solo was wrong. It needed to be bigger, something inspired by Slash from Guns N’ Roses, a real standout moment,” Goodwin recalls.
Lead guitarist Pat Michaud immediately understood the vision. That night, he reworked the solo from scratch, drawing on the soaring, expressive style of Slash. Just a few days later, the band hit the studio to rerecord it.
“We knew instantly—this was the one!”
The final version of the solo gives the track a powerful lift, cementing “G n’ R Tee” as a must-listen for fans of both country and rock.
Growing Momentum and National Recognition
“G n’ R Tee” is already making waves, earning a spot on SiriusXM Top of the Country (ch. 171), helping to expand the band’s reach to listeners nationwide. Since their debut in 2019, CGB has been steadily climbing the ranks of the Canadian country scene, known for their energetic performances and relatable songwriting.
The Prince George-based four-piece—Chris Goodwin (vocals, rhythm guitar), Pat Michaud (lead guitar), Steve Smith (bass), and Chester Hewkin (drums)—has built a reputation for blending traditional country with modern production, creating a fresh yet familiar sound.
Their previous singles, including “Shot of Jack Daniels”, “Don’t You Wanna Truck?”, and “Yeah I Do”, have all found success on independent country charts in Canada and the UK.
From opening for acts like Dean Brody and Corb Lund at Best Damn Music Fest to playing major events like Crossroads Streetfest, where they shared the stage with Nice Horse, CGB continues to gain momentum as one of Canada’s most exciting rising country bands.

At its core, “G n’ R Tee” is about how the smallest things—like an old band t-shirt—can hold the biggest memories.
“I hope fans connect with the honesty in G n’ R Tee. It’s a simple moment turned into something unforgettable, and if it resonates with them in their own way, that’s what matters most,” says Goodwin.
In country music, the Front Porch has long been a place of reflection. A place where you can look at the life you have inside that front door. A place where time almost seems to stand still, where you can get away. It’s also a place where you can go to observe the world as it passes by you. To think about your place out there beyond the driveway.
