School House is a folk band from Ottawa comprised of Joel, Mitch, and Dave. It’s hard to sum up how their friendship’s all connected and led them to become roommates and live in an old school house – but they tell us everything in our episode of the podcast.
From the drum kit in the living room, to exploring the attic and finding an old box of clothes; to that box of clothes becoming part of their identity.
The band recorded their first album right inside the old school house they lived in – that and a number of loud parties involving 300 lbs of old speakers, and a few more antics happened in that house.
We had a great time chatting with School House about their musical influences and upbringing, winning Mariposa Music Fest’s Artist Showcase and following that up with winning the Boots and Hearts Emerging Artist Showcase in 2025.
This year, the band has a lot on the go.
They just dropped their brand new single “Live While I’m Alive”, with their second full length album, Homeland releasing February 27th.
