Earlier this month, father-son country duo Son of John released a new single “Better Than That”. And we’re thrilled to be able to premiere the music video!
The music video for “Better Than That” is the fun escape we all need right now.
The music video is a continuous shot that playfully follows John and Javan through a gorgeous house with a view. As we get a tour of this great house, you might notice some hidden Son of John trucker hats scattered around. It’s a fun game to try and figure out how many trucker hats are actually in this video!

“Better Than That” is the follow up single to their debut “Country Pure”. It’s a fun song that has a really nice message. It’s a reminder that the little things are some of the best things life has to offer. Things like having “beer in the fridge”, “a good fittin’ trucker’s hat”, and “when a sweetheart says she loves you and you love her back”.
The song features upbeat guitars, and some classic country sounds mixed with some modern ones. It’s a really great song that you are going to want to add to your summer playlists.

About Father-Son Country Duo Son of John
Javan and Johnny P. Johnson are bringing country music back to its roots. Being a father and son team allows them to speak to multi-generational audiences.
Listening to their music you can hear inspirations from both traditional and modern country. The pairing of these two sounds gives their music an unmistakable feeling of nostalgia, while keeping it fresh without sounding dated. “Better Than That” is the perfect example of that!
These two artists from BC are incredibly talented musicians and storytellers.
Javan is a multi-instrumentalist and was nominated for Fiddle & Mandolin Player of the Year at the 2019 BCCMA Awards. He’s also a talented songwriter, and freelance fiddle/mandolin player for multiple Canadian country artists.
Johnny brings his experience and vocal talent as the front man of two ’90’s bands called the nerV, and the BCCMA-nominated Midnight Harvesters. The talent and experience of this duo speaks (and sings) for itself!
