As part of our Boots & Hearts artist profile series, we would like to introduce you to Canadian country artist Eric Ethridge. Eric Ethridge has one of the most compelling origin stories of anyone else in the industry.
Not only is Eric an incredibly talented musician, he’s also a doctor! In fact, when he released his self-titled debut EP he was still active in his chiropractic practice in Sarnia Ontario. Within the past year, he was able to leave his practice to pursue a career in country music on a full-time basis. He was also signed to Anthem Music. You could say he’s had a record year!
His self-titled EP hit Number One on Canada’s overall iTunes chart and was streamed over 3 million times in the first 6 weeks, with no promotion. Subsequently, the lead track earned a coveted spot on SiriusXM’s tastemaker program “On the Horizon” for 24 consecutive weeks.
Eric’s fanbase began to grow rapidly, and in part due to releasing cover videos on YouTube. From there he realized that music was his passion. He was able to land a spot in the 2015 Emerging Artist Showcase at Boots & Hearts where he had the chance to perform in front of 40,000 people. It was during this appearance that he realized he needed to follow his heart and pursue music full time.
It’s been a year of emotions for this Canadian artist! He released a tearful video of him reacting to hearing his song on Sirius XM The Highway for the first time. It’s an incredibly emotional video, where it’s almost impossible not to smile along and feel the sense of joy he’s experiencing.
We are so looking forward to getting the chance to see Eric again and catch up with him at Boots & Hearts this year, but this time as a fully-emerged artist on the lineup. He will be playing on Saturday August 10th, 2019.
In country music, the Front Porch has long been a place of reflection. A place where you can look at the life you have inside that front door. A place where time almost seems to stand still, where you can get away. It’s also a place where you can go to observe the world as it passes by you. To think about your place out there beyond the driveway.
